While images deletion is permanent, it really tips the balance in favor
of deletionists, I do not think it is fair. If there is no possibility
to retrieve a deleted pictures, deletion should possibly not be as easy
than just clicking on delete.
Is there a solution other than retrieving lost images on our mirrors ?
If the image has been there long enough to get into the upload dumps
you can retrive it there, e.g. all the images which have been deleted
since 2005-02-03 but existed before that time are in the
20050203_upload.tar dump avalible at
http://download.wikimedia.org/archives/en/
