> That will be good enough for some testing. Hopefully squids can be configured to understand that http://fr.paris.wikipedia.org/ is indeed http://fr.wikipedia.org/
French squids can be configured to use Florida squids as round-robin parents.
Anyway, I might volunteer for setting whole squid thing up. We're dealing with recursive squid topologies here and there, so it would be quite interesting to do that for France as well.

I propose to show in general a small ***pdf icon*** for such links
pointing to a PDF file. This would be similar to small icon
external.png, which is already shown after every _external_ link. It
could be handled in monobook.css.

Hello every wikipedians,
My name is Julien Levrel and I'm studying sociology in France. I started a PhD
on cooperation and collaboration using wiki for leading project. Some french
wikipedians know me cause I interview them during my first approach and now I
try to modelize cooperation between contributors using graph and technical
methodology to improve my view of the social and thematic network of the Wp fr
(firstly).
After a discussion on the chan IRC #wikipedia.fr, I try here to get some more
information. I would like to download the data of Wp fr (cur and old). I don't
think there is the totally of Wp fr (like discussions, personnal pages, help
pages, ...). Is it possible to get these pages for working not connected ?
I think I am not alone to work on this project in a sociological view, so maybe
it will be really interesting to have these data or maybe to have a different
access to these and not use servers (thing I will never do alone without
permissions)
be cool with my english :) I'm sorry for him.
thank you for your time and party on dudes!
Julien Levrel
Sorry if there is already a thematic on this in archive, I will check after.
Hi!
I do some statistics of Wikipedia growth - unfortunately the directory
with the original cvs-files of Wikistat is not accesible anymore:
http://www.wikipedia.org/wikistats/csv/
Can anybody unprotect the directory, please?
Thanks a lot!

At least Fantasy and I have no more any sysop, or bureaucrat or steward
power on meta. Maybe others. It has been at least a month now since we
first noticed it before holidays.
Could someone check what the problem is ?

Hi
is anyone actively working on PostgreSQL support for MediaWiki?
I`ve just managed to get the latest 1.4beta working after a fashion,
but I'm coming across many minor problems I'd be able to provide
patches for.

Hello,
If I'm not mistaken, the random page scheme makes some pages
much more likely to be retrieved than others. If I understand
correctly, each page is assigned a random number (cur_random)
when it's created. To retrieve a random page, a random number x
is generated and the page with cur_random > x and lower than
any other cur_random is returned.
The probability of retrieving a page is proportional to the
gap between its cur_random and the next lower cur_random.
If cur_random is generated uniformly, the gaps have an
exponential distribution. This implies there will be some
gaps that are much larger than others. I guess that we could
directly test this by dumping out cur_random and computing
the gaps.
Since the bias (if it exists) is independent of everything
else (category, age, size, authors, etc etc) I think it
would be no more than a curiosity, except for people who
are doing some kind of comprehensive statistical stuff.
Sorry if this is just a rerun of some earlier discussion.
I did look but couldn't find anything.
best,
Robert Dodier
Anybody here familiar with automated email systems? The board and I would like
the ability to thank every person who donated last year via PayPal and
Moneybookers. Such a system would also need to be used in the future to do the
same thing.

remaining major problems in the code prior to a final public 1.4.0
release. It is not recommended to use this beta on a public site unless
you're familiar with MediaWiki innards and are willing and able to help
diagnose and fix problems that come up.
Users of the earlier beta releases should upgrade to keep up with bug
