Hi
Going through the Board Meeting notes from August [1
<http://wikimedia.org.za/wiki/Board_Meeting_14_August_2018>], I see there
consensus to move to Wordpress? At least for the main chapter site I
totally oppose this. I think one of the mitigating factors for user
interaction is the the missing unified login [2
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Unified_login>] and no possibility to
create an account in the current chapter MediaWiki installation.
We already have a Wikimedia Phabricator ticket open to have WMF host our
MediaWiki for free, as many other chapters are doing [3
<https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T195926>].
For everything regarding mail (lists, personal mail etc.), like WMF and
other chapters, as an NPO, we can get free hosting from Google. But we have
to get the PBO status from SARS. Then apply for that through SANGOTeCH [4
<https://support.google.com/nonprofits/answer/3215869?hl=en>]. I would've
assumed the PBO registration is important with other aspects as well.
