Wikimedia UK is committed to supporting our volunteers and to encourage
them to teach others how to edit Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects, we
are running a weekend training workshop. This will take place on the
weekend of 23-24 February in Manchester, and we would particularly
encourage anyone from the North West to attend.
The workshop will be delivered by a professional training company and aims
to improve delegates’ abilities to deliver any training workshop. It’s
especially relevant to anybody who already runs Wikimedia-related training,
or is very interested in doing so in near future.
The workshop is a chance to:
- Get accredited and receive detailed feedback about your presenting and
training skills
- Get general trainer skills which you can then apply when delivering
specific Wikipedia workshops
- Share your skills with others
- Help design a training programme that serves Wikimedia UK in the long
term.
The course will run from 9:30 am-6:30pm on Saturday and 9am-5pm on Sunday.
A light breakfast and lunch will be provided. We should also be able to
cover travel and accommodation if you let us know in advance.
If you are interested in attending, please indicate your commitment by
signing up on this UK wiki
page<http://uk.wikimedia.org/wiki/Training_the_Trainers/February_2013_event>
but
please note that places are limited.
If you are not able to attend this time but would like to take part in the
future, please let me know by email to daria.cybulska(a)wikimedia.org.uk – we
will be offering more sessions in the future.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions. I can also put you
in touch with past participants who will be able to share their experiences
with you
Regards,
Richard Nevell
Forwarding this message from the Education list. While I don't know any
more about it than what's in this email, it looks like an interesting
opportunity for anyone keen to do some Wikipedia training abroad.

Subject: [Wikimedia Education] Fwd: need speakers for upcoming Wiki Academy
in Kosovo
To: education <education(a)lists.wikimedia.org>
Hello Wikipedians,
Wikipedia Academy Kosovo is an upcoming event in Kosovo and we are seeking
some Wikipedians from Europe to fly-in to mentor and speak.
The event will encourage the creation of high-quality content - both photos
and articles - on Wikipedia English by students and others in Kosovo. The
Academy will be a 3-day event organized in Prishtina, Kosovo on 22-24
February. About 100 participants will be recruited from high schools and
universities around Kosovo. They will be encouraged to form teams from
their schools with a faculty mentor to sponsor them. To help prepare for
the Academy, the organizers will conduct presentations introducing students
to the wiki editing process, research and appropriate content creation.
Participants will hear from local, regional and international speakers to
improve their understanding and purpose of Wikipedia and the process of
creating high quality articles. On day two, the participants will organize
into teams to generate new content that will be edited and posted during
the event. On day three participants will post their content to Wikipedia
and Wikivoyage. Best articles and photos will be awarded prizes.
If anyone is interested, please email me to arianit(a)gmail.com with your
Wikipedia user ID, one or more topics you could speak on, a few short
paragraphs stating your motivation and qualification for this event.
We will cover your travel to and expenses while in Prishtina.
I look forward to hearing from you,
Arianit Dobroshi

If anyone's looking for a new article to write, I just had this pointed out
to me:

I believe it's notable - if a little tricky to find modern sources for.
There might even be a Did You Know in it.

All,
In 30 minutes the main mail server migration will begin; your email inboxes
(if you have them :)) will be inaccessible for around an hour as I confirm
the migration was successful & get the processes running.
Mail sent to wikimedia and wikiconferences addresses during this time will
be recieved, but not processed. They will be processed once I have
confirmed the validity of the migration.
Mailing lists (not this one; the board, office and conference, etc.) will
be inaccessible for about 2-3 hours depending on how quickly I can confirm
this stage of the migration/
