Mailing list FAQ, guidelines can be sent every month in the reminder
mail itself.
Or else, some wikipages can be created for such orientation activities.
Most newbies would couch their calls for assistance in respect of such
matters in a courteous manner. While the answers (and suggestions) in this
case have been enlightening, they hardly add to the knowledge of routine
email etiquette. I do hope the requester meant the queries in the same
spirit of good faith that characterises the replies. I have noticed an
overdose of trolling and personal attacks on our lists in recent weeks, and
it would be a shame if this gives the impression that such stuff is par for
the course.
I don't think I'm on the pune and media lists, so have omitted them from
the cc. I have included Anirudh because nabble may need to continue a
complete log of this thread.
