Hiya,
The Scholarship Application Form for WikiConference India 2011 is ready to go live - we need help with translating the form as well as the site notices (for Wikipedia) into the 20+ indic language languages that have operating wikis. HelloI have created an article on yesterdays bombings. Now few foreigners are proposing to rename this article to Mumbai 2011 bombings. Please oppose this on talk page. Please support me.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:13_July_2011_Mumbai_bombingsI am opposing it for following reasons1) Year 2011 has not yet ended so how can it be labeled as 2011 mumbai bombings?
2) What if there are more bombings in this year? Editors are saying that if new bombing happens then we will rename it to 13 july Mumbai bombings! Why to go to double work?
3) All outsiders are supporting no Indian comments on it!! Please Vote on it

Subject: July Mumbai Meetup, WikiConference and Mumbai SIG Chairperson
Date: Thu, 7 Jul 2011 11:59:44 +0000
Hiya,
We need to decide on a date time and place for our July Meetup. The only two things on the agenda at the moment is noting the progress made with preparations for WikiConference 2011, Mumbai (http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/WikiConference_India_2011) and the GLAM update. Kindly respond with whatever else you would like to be included in the agenda for this meet.
User:World, whom I have worked with on a few WikiProjects over the years will be in Mumbai on July 20, 2011. If everyone is willing to have the meet-up on 20th evening (Wednesday), then User:World would be happy to attend the same.
Further, as per the email forwarded to the Mumbai list by Pradeep, we will soon be have a Special Interest Group Sub-Committee for Mumbai appointed by the Wikimedia Chapter (India) and will have a Mumbai Chairperson. I propose to nominate Pradeep Mohandas (User:Prad2609) for the post of Chairperson, Mumbai SIG Sub-Committee. What are your feelings on this? If there are any other candidates/nominations we would appreciate the names coming forth on this list so we can decide on a consensus Mumbai candidate (Kindly note being a chapter member is a prerequisite for this). In case there is no consensus candidate then the Chapter Executive Committee will decide on this post.

Subject: [Wikimediaindia-l] Chapter Update - June 2011
To: "Discussion list on Indian language projects of Wikimedia." <
wikimediaindia-l(a)lists.wikimedia.org>
Dear Wikimedia India Community,
Last month, the Chapter has taken several steps to engage with the community
towards building the Chapter further. Here are the highlights.
1. Membership drive to enroll members who will be able to both stand for
elections and vote in the elections to the Executive Committee of the
Chapter was completed on 23 Jun 2011. The membership stands at 64 as of
23-June-2011. We thank the community for having shown keen interest in
getting membership in the Chapter.
2. A mailing list exclusively for members (wmin-members(a)googlegroups.com)
is now operational. We encourage members to start using the mailing list
for discussing topics of interest to members.
3. A wiki for members (http://members.wikimedia.in with 36 accounts as of
4 Jul 2011) is now operational. We request all members to intimate chapter
their user-ids on Community wiki, to enable access for them on Members Wiki.
Members can seamlessly access community wiki and Members wiki, with single
login. We look forward to building an active members wiki, which can help in
shaping the Chapter's plans.
4. Chapter decided to partner with the Mumbai and Pune Wiki-Communities
to co-host the WikiConference
India<http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/WikiConference_India_2011> for
this year.
5. Applied for a boot strap
grant<http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants_talk:WM_IN/Bootstrap_Grant>
from
the Wikimedia Foundation.
6. AGM is planned for 24th September, 2011 in Bangalore.
We thank the community on the support extended to the Chapter so far. We
would like to thank Arnav Chaudhary specifically for offering to set-up a
platform for membership sign-ups and
management<http://wiki.wikimedia.in/SW_for_Membership_management> and
building a test site and several others from members and community in
testing the prototype. We look forward to the community and members to
volunteer for other projects <http://wiki.wikimedia.in/Projects:2011-12> as
well and also support the chapter through
donations<http://wiki.wikimedia.in/Donations>,
as getting the funds from Foundation could take 3-4 months.
Over the next few weeks, we will work towards forming city/language
subcommittee<http://members.wikimedia.in/City_and_Language_Special_Interest_Group_subcom…>
(for
members only), defining the process for nominations and conduct of elections
for vacancies in EC as well as making progress on
projects<http://wiki.wikimedia.in/Projects:2011-12>
.
You can still register to be a member of the Chapter by using the [Individual
Membership Form<http://wiki.wikimedia.in/File:WikimediaChapterMembershipFormIndividual.pdf>]
along with either Cheque/DD payable at par at Bangalore or via online
transfer. Please do send us the physical copy of the form, duly signed, to
the Bangalore address of the Chapter.
Look forward to your continued support
Thank you.
Best,
Gautam on behalf of the Wikimedia Chapter.
(PS: Please do cross-post this as necessary)
