Dear Wikimedians,
The Movement Strategy and Governance team is looking for community members
to serve as election volunteers in the upcoming Board of Trustees election.
The idea of the Election Volunteer Program came up during the 2021
Wikimedia Board of Trustees Election. This program turned out to be
successful. With the help of Election Volunteers we were able to increase
outreach and participation in the election by 1,753 voters over 2017.
Overall turnout was 10.13%, 1.1 percentage points more, and 214 wikis were
represented in the election.
But a total of 74 wikis that did not participate in 2017 produced voters in
the 2021 election. Can you help change the participation?
Election volunteers will help in the following areas:
- Translate short messages and announce the ongoing election process in
community channels
- Optional: Monitor community channels for community comments and
questions
Volunteers should:
- Maintain the friendly space policy during conversations and events
- Present the guidelines and voting information to the community in a
neutral manner
Do you want to be an election volunteer and ensure your community is
represented in the vote? Sign up here

to receive updates. You can use the talk page

for questions about translation.
Best regards,
Ramzy

Subject: Invitation to form an Analysis Committee for 2022 Wikimedia
Foundation Board of Trustees election
To: <affiliates(a)lists.wikimedia.org>
Dear Affiliates,
My name is Ramzy from the Movement Strategy and Governance team (MSG) at
Wikimedia Foundation. I am writing to inform you about the Affiliates
involvement in the 2022 Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees election
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Foundation_elections/2022> and
invite your participation.
This year, Wikimedia communities and affiliates will take part in selecting
2 candidates to fill the two community- and affiliate-elected seats
available. To launch the process, Affiliates will vote in July 2022 to
shortlist 6 candidates from the candidate pool, in which then will be voted
by the community at-large. You can find more details about the process
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Foundation_elections/2022#Affilia…>*here
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Foundation_elections/2022#Affilia…>*
.
Before the shortlisting vote, we are inviting you to participate in forming
an *Analysis Committee*
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Foundation_elections/2022#Analysi…>,
which will rate the candidates based on specific criteria. This Committee
will be composed of 9 representatives from Wikimedia chapters, user groups,
and thematic organisations. Members of the Committee will each represent
the 8 geographic regions of the Wikimedia movement and an additional group
for thematic Affiliates. In this Meta page
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Foundation_elections/2022/Affilia…>
you can see which region/group your Affiliate will be collaborating with to
select a member for the Analysis Committee.
The MSG facilitators, which have been assigned to every region and group,
are prepared to offer facilitation and support to help your region/group in
collaboration and decision making. You can reach out directly to us by
leaving a comment at the Meta talk page
<https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:Wikimedia_Foundation_elections/2022>.
Best regards,
Ramzy

Fellow Wikimedians,
Wikipedia Asian Month has started!
WAM is an annual Wikipedia contest focused on the promotion of Asian
content on various language-specific Wikipedias. Each participating
community runs a month-long (November 2011) online edit-a-thon every
November on their language's Wikipedia to create new content or improve
existing articles about Asian topics apart from their own country.
Individuals or groups who made exemplary work in this global campaign will
be sent with postcards from the organisers!
Visit https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_Asian_Month_2021 to know
more how to participate or how your community organise a contest in your
local language Wikipedia!
Kind regards,
Butch Bustria
