Or maybe I was wrong to believe that S. Fred Singer was quoting Ponte
correctly.
Lets quote from other sections of "The Cooling"
"There are very few pages that, as a scientist, I could accept without
questions of accuracy, of precision, or of balance..."
Thats from the preface. Sadly, you're not a scientist Ed, and so not quite as
discriminating.
Ponte massively misrepresented the NAS report, in order to (wait, here comes
the shocker SELL MORE BOOKS [see Lomberg, Bjorn]) Here is the conclusion of
that NAS report :
"The climates of the earth have always been changing, and they will doubtless
continue to do so in the future. How large these future changes will be, and
where and how rapidly they will occur, we do not know"
The final recommendations of the report, were that climate change was
possible, and that further research would be advisable.
Pretty shocking stuff.
Basing a scientific article on Ponte's "The Cooling" is akin to writing a
balanced report on the US media using only quotes from Ann Coulter and Michael
Moore, or quoting Paul Ehrlich on the Black-Scholes equations...
