Hi
I've found the system messages for changing some of the messages on the
sign in account creation page, but I can't seem to find where the message
about the statistics is generated. The one that says
Sitename is made by people like you.
Number of edits
number of pages
number of contributors
I need to get rid of this message since it's grossly wrong on my wiki. I
used a special php script to import and create lots of pages. But,
unfortunately, we didn't write the script right since everything works but
the statistics have never been right. I can live with the statistics being
wrong, but hate to confuse people on signup with statistics that don't made
sense.
Thanks

Assuming you mean the sidebar when you talk about the "navigation pane," I have the following actually in the sidebar:
• MediaWiki:Sidebar|Change this menu!
So now the sidebar has a link showing on every page for changing the sidebar.
To initially edit the sidebar, you need to go to:
http://www.YourDomainName.com/wiki/MediaWiki:Sidebar
Then you can add the line above.

For what it's worth, the Admin Links extension includes an 'Edit Sidebar' link.

Hi all,
I am not able to edit the navigation pane of my mediawiki, i am using monobook skin, as i know it should be a link under the pane which is "edit the navigation" and all would be same as editing other pages. But I am not able to see it (having administrator rights), does anyone know how to do it.?

Dear all,
I'd like to change the text on Special:Upload (Spezial:Hochladen in my case), but several attempts didn't work:
1. I changed MediaWiki:Uploadtext, but that did not help
2. I tried the markup for wpUploadFormLongText and wpUploadFormShortText on MediaWiki:Uploadtext from here [1]
3. I tried to change other interface texts, e.g. MediaWiki:Upload-maxfilesize or MediaWiki:Summary, which also doesn't work. (While others like MediaWiki:Sitenotice, MediaWiki:Searchmenu-new or MediaWiki:Sitenotice work fine)
I'm using MediaWiki 1.22.5

Bernhard

MW 1.23.3
PHP 5.4.32
MySQL 5.5.39
Lua 5.1.5
Yesterday on a wiki I administer, pages utilizing Lua modules began
producing the following script error:
Lua error: Connot create process: proc_open (/dev/null): failt to open
stream: Operation not permitted
And similarly, the system log file is full of this PHP Warning:
PHP Warning: proc_open(/dev/null): failed to open stream: Operation
not permitted in
.../extensions/Scribunto/engines/LuaStandalone/LuaStandaloneEngine.php
on line 211
I know the permissions on /dev/null are correct. Any ideas how to fix this?
Thanks
Bill
Instead of deleting Wiki articles which are not valid any longer, but are kept for historical reasons, I want to move those articles away from the current Wiki. Historical articles could contain [[category:histocal]] and I imagine that those articles could be moved automatically to another Wiki, based on this category, (or alternatively to another namespace, but this would not be read-only).
How do I accomplish this?
I am currently running Mediawiki version 1.20.4
