Hello,
I just installed a new wiki. I'm trying to get Short URLs working using
.htaccess.
Once things are working properly, my URLs should look like this:
http://wiki.domain.tld/Main_Page
I tried following the example here:
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Short_URL/Apache
...but the example assumes two things that are not true for me:
1. you installed mediawiki into a folder called "w"
2. you want you URLs to look like this:
http://wiki.domain.tld/wiki/Main_Page
I installed mediawiki into my "root" domain folder, not in a sub-folder
I don't want "wiki" to appear before /Main_Page.
Can someone please paste an example htaccess file that will work with these
two requirements?
Thanks very much in advance!

Has anyone out there successfully implemented the LaTex Math Equations feature (so they
look pretty), on Windows 2008 using MediaWiki v1.19.x or higher ?
The most recent thing I could find referenced MW 1.16.x, and I don't think it was on
Windows 2008.
For example, to make this formula look pretty:
<math>sqrt{22}</math>

Hi,
I know this has been asked many times, but I would like to ask if there is aaaaany way at all, including hacks, writing a custom extension, etc..
Why? Because the data in my special purpose semantic wiki is the basis of another app which could suffer a lot if certain people try to "game" my system. And generally, I'm trying to make things as tight as possible while still being editable by anons.
Any suggestions, thoughts, or general musings are appreciated.
Thanks!
Al
P.S. For example, I wonder if there is a way to intercept the URL connection and simply replace action=edit query parameter with action=formedit for non-sysops.
Hi
Does anyone know the impact of maintenance script removeUnusedAccounts on the Abuse filter account?
Since Abuse filter is a special account which never is credited with edits this maintenance script will delete it? Just a guess.
Anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks
Tom
Hi everyone,
WMF constantly releases dumps <http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Data_dumps>of
Wikipedia and other WMF projects. As these are huge files and download is
difficult, there is a constant need of mirrors. The current mirrors are
listed at
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Mirroring_Wikimedia_project_XML_dumps#Curren…
but
need some organization. Ariel Glenn (CC'ed), who is responsible of XML
dumps, is looking for somebody who can help organize the mirrors so that
people trying to donwload the dumps are offered the closest geographically
up-to-date mirror as it is usually done at other donwload sites. Does
anyone have experience with this?
Also, if anypne has idea of organizations, which might be willing to host a
mirror ( requirements
here<http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Mirroring_Wikimedia_project_XML_dumps#Requir…>),
please let me or Ariel know.

hello all! I met a problem in configuring the wiki to sent email. Although
I've installed mail module with pear, including net_smtp and net_socket.
But when I want to sent a email, it says "PEAR mail package is not
installed". Anyone can help me to fix it?
I hope someone can help.
I have a custom namespace.
I can edit via API in the _main_ namespace, thus, my custom bot is logging in, getting edit token, etc.. - API edit code tests good.
I can edit via the WEB interface in the _custom_ namespace successfully - security/permissions configed correctly.
But, I cannot edit via the API in the _custom_ namespace. So, there is something about editing a custom namespace WITH the api.
Error output:
<?xml version="1.0"?><api><error code="protectednamespace" info="You're not allowed to edit pages in the "SusData" namespace" /></api>
Any ideas?
Thanks,
al
P.S. I can post config stuff if needed.
