Hello,
After upgrade to 1.20 I have been noticing a strange behavior.
An article "A" is created.
I try to add it to Category "B", "C", "D" and "E".
I use a template in order to add it in all those categories. And I can
only see "A" in "B" and "C" after I save it. It doesnt appear in D or
E.
I do something like (inside "A"):
{{B}}
{{C}}
{{Combine D and E}} // This template have {{D}} and {{E}} which are
also templates to categories "D" and "E"
After I change de order:
{{B}}
{{Combine D and E}}
{{C}}
It works!
And if I reorder it back it stays OK (at least so far).
My question is: What have changed?
The order is kind of important and changing it for every article I
create only to make it appear seems a bit silly. It looks like once it
appears on the category it will stay there
Any thougths?

Cheers

Hi.
Probably it's a commom question.
So, I have five groups and I would like that mediawiki could protect users
to show/edit/etc pages of groups they don't belong to.
I know there's some extensions but all that I've found requires that the
user write down an specific tag in the page.
I would like that the protection could be automatically, I mean, that
mediawiki already know that the logged user creates pages automaticaly
protected from users of the another groups.
I know it's a wiki, so... that's not the focus of a tool like mediawiki,
but I already have tons of pages and I need to implement that permission
approach.
Any help/idea?
Thanks!
Alex

Hello everyone,
We're very pleased to announce that a new version of Semantic Bundle, the
Semantic MediaWiki-based extension package, is now available. This is the
first release of Semantic Bundle in nine months, which is the longest gap
that has occurred between two SB releases. That gap was caused by the move
of all the extensions from SVN to Git, which itself took several months,
followed by the need to update the SB scripts to work with Git, which took
quite a bit longer than it should have. But the release of Semantic
MediaWiki 1.8 was a good opportunity to finally update everything.
This new version of Semantic Bundle includes the same set of extensions as
the previous one, although nearly all of the extensions are at a newer
version.
You can read more about Semantic Bundle here:
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Semantic_Bundle
And you can download the new SB in .zip, .tgz or .7z format here:
https://code.google.com/p/semantic-mediawiki-bundle/downloads/list
Sincerely,
Jeroen and Yaron
Hi all,
because it’s christmas and I want to improve my coding language skills to write better articles in my wiki (http://wiki.de.grepolis.com/wiki/Hauptseite) I am searching for a book about coding in wiki.
What languages can I use in my wiki articles and how do they interact with the wiki syntax (e. g. “{|” and “|-“ in tables)?
Is there any book especially for coding in MediaWiki?
Greetings,
GIC

I can state with reasonable certainty that on userbase.kde.org, 245
pages have some degree of translation into French. Unfortunately that
statistic is fairly meaningless, without knowing the extent of completion.
What I really need is to be able to insert a line into the query that
checks the language statistic (the language bar knows it, so I feel it
must be possible) and returns a result if it is within a fixed range.
I'd like to be able to split into <50%, >75%, >90% - so I guess that
means I'll have to define a range for each, but where will the data be
found?
If I'm going about this in the wrong way, can you point me to a better
way?
Anne

Hey all,
I am happy to announce the immediate availability of Maps and Semantic Maps
2.0.1.
This minor release includes some important bugfixes for Google Maps, most
notably the working of infowindows, which broke due to a change in the
Google Maps API. It also improved compatibility with SMW 1.8 and the
upcoming 1.9.
The releases are tagged as "2.0.1" in git and can also be obtained as zip
archive from the extension pages:

I'm using MySQL and I notice that the docs say that in order to configure PHP with the --with-mysql option that MySQL should already be installed. Does this mean that it's expect that the db and MW must run on the same machine? What is recommended? For scalability, will the two ever need to run on separate machines?
Thanks,
Al
