Hello
I am now really puzzled, in order to understand where
mediawiki saves its information I resintalled a new
mediawiki and connected it to new mysql data base.
I just created on new page, called it seminar and wrote a
sentence then saved the new page.
When I looked in /var/lib/mysql/maqwiki
The only files with the relevant dates where
searchindex.MYD
searchindex.MYI
The other files of the database where not touched.
Then I have a simple question if all relevant information is
saved in these files could I not just simply
shutdown the server
replace these two pages (by one of a different data base)
restart the server
I did this but the nothing happened. That is I only see this
new page with its content, which makes me think that the
information is save in some other place but where??????

I have created an Unpublished namespace on my wiki that is viewable only to certain users. The goal of this namespace is to have a place to create articles, so that I can time their release at which time I move the pages to the main namespace. So far this works well, except with images, which are of course in the special File namespace.
So basically, is there a way I can keep certain uploaded images hidden as well until I'm ready to release the article? I'd like something simple, I'm assuming with an extension.

Of course all developers are welcome! We're going to be tracking
bugs for that weekend using a new keyword in Bugzilla called
"bugsmash."
(That's also a general invitation for people to start targeting some
items for the Hack-A-Ton)

I should've reached out to you guys a few weeks ago ;-) The venue
is almost settled--hopefully will have an information to share about
that this evening. I might need a hand the day before (I will be driving
up the 21st) to help me get things organized and ready for everyone's
arrival on the 22nd.

I'm looking at MOWES for an install package and I note that the default
directory for mediawiki is "mediawiki" instead of just "wiki."
Anyone know how complicated in might be to change this? Do I need do
anything other than change the directory name and then edit
LocalSetting.php?
Hello
I have not been successful so far in restoring the data of
the crashed harddisk. When I re install mediawiki and
connect it to the db from the crash, the installation goes
smooth, but then the wiki just shows pages as if the
database very new and empty.
The database in question (mysql) contains information only
in the searchindex.MYD and searchindex.MYI but not as in
other wikis I generate files like text.MYD etc.
Is this a sign that the db was damaged during the crash of
the Mac? If so I give up.
Thanks

Hello guys,
I want to set the correct timezone for my wiki as all logs are two hours
behind. So I declared the following in LocalSettings but there's no change.
# Set the correct timezone
$wgLocaltimezone = "Europe/Berlin";
$oldtz = getenv("TZ");
putenv("TZ=$wgLocaltimezone");
I took the information from here:
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Timezone
How can I set the correct timezone for Europe/Berlin?

I have a section/subsections structure like this:
=Section 1=
==Subsection 1==
==Subsection 2==
=Section 2=
==Subsection 1==
==Subsection 2==
The string "Subsection 1" is purposely used twice, as is the string
"Subsection 2".
I want to refer from Section 1/Subsection 2 to Section 1/Subsection 1.
I also want to refer from Section 2/Subsection 2 to Section 2/Subsection 1.
There are, of course, more than Section 1 and Section 2 in the wiki
page. In fact, I would like to be able to add, move, and remove
Sections and have the references still link properly. There will
always be a Subsection 1 and a Subsection 2 in each section with a
link from the second to the first.
Can this be accomplished in Wiki syntax?
Hello,
I need to embed a widget allowing searching our wiki from another page.
Hitting search button will open our wiki to display results.
How would you advise doing this?
http://www.wikipedia.org is doing this calling search-redirect.php. I
don't have this script availaible in my 1.15 copy. Any pointer about
where to find it?
Many thanks
hka.
