Subject: [FOSDEM] Call for Main Speakers and Devrooms
FOSDEM, the biggest free and non-commercial event organized by and for
the open source community, is taking place in Brussels, Belgium on
Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 February 2011. Apart from having many invited
speakers, the conference offers developer rooms, stands and lightning
talks to projects from the Free and Open source community. This results
in a staggering number of 250+ lectures!
We hereby invite ideas and proposals for main speakers, and proposals
for developer rooms. The call for stands and lightning talks will be
done after announcing the accepted devrooms.
For more details and dates, visit

No doubt -- much of the material is like this, which is probably one of
the reasons they wanted to move it to a wiki (there are currently 6000+
projects listed and we may be adding a lot more from debian
databases, meaning I cannot go thru checking/updating them). Once the
site is officially up I'll announce it here (with a reminder about that
issue) and whoever's interested can take the chance to update/correct
the info.

Good -- I did eventually find doEdit() and match that up with the stuff
from Title.php to get it to work, thanks for confirming I am on the
right path! Perhaps when done I will add a page about this to the
Manual, eg, how to do a form based page creation extension, and
someone(s) can look that over, etc. We also have a form based search
for Semantic stuff, which I partially learned from the example of
others. I think forms would be a useful tool on wikis with highly
structured articles/entries, such as this.

I am currently setting up a free gaming access wiki area of my website and
i'm having a bit of trouble with the wiki setup. Where do I download the
infobox extension file so that I can use this in my wiki pages for the
site? Tried to use the template coding, but it didn't seem to work and as a
result I found that I needed a .php file in the extensions folder to make it
work. Is this extension file free use for any wiki site or is the one on
wikipedia specially tailored? Any help would be appreciated in fixing my
problem. The current setup for the wiki area of my site is at
http://wiki.mmodomination.com/ if you need some information.
I was using mediawiki 1.13.4 with mwclient 0.6.2 to upload some wiki pages and template pages using MW api.
Recently I upgraded both the tools to MW 15.4 and MWClient 0.6.4 ( I could not upgrade to MW 1.16 as I have some dependency for Halo)
I have restricted read and edit permission for anonymous user in LocalSetting.php As :
$wgGroupPermissions['*']['edit'] = false;
$wgGroupPermissions['*']['read'] = false;
I have always upload wiki pages using following calls in mwclient:
site = mwclient.Site(server, path)----(1)
site.login(username, password)---(2)
but once I upgraded MW to 15.4 it started failing at first line, even before trying to login.
I tested mwclient 0.6.4 with MW 1.13.4 and it is working fine.
Is there any change in MW API which try to read some wiki pages/template pages in order to create Site object ?
I am getting following error.
>>mwclient.errors.APIError: (u'readapidenied', u'You need read permission to use this module', None)
Thanks

Just to clarify: the special page will be a form. The fields
correspond (approximately) to the structure of the pages in the wiki,
for example, here the page listing mediawiki itself:
http://directoryng-dev.fsf.org/wiki/MediaWiki
Nb, this information appears outdated (lol) but don't bother creating a
user to correct it (yet) as the site is still in development. Anyway,
if you view the source you'll notice the page uses more than a dozen
templates (one megalithic template was not flexible enough) and a
similar number of Semantic properties, and I want to spare the user
these details. So the form data will be processed to create a page.
You say I do not need to access api.php to do that, therefore I don't
need to password to get an "edit" token, etc -- how would I go about
that?
> No problem. You can require a right in order to use that Special Page.
> Take a look at how other restricted special pages do it.
Yes, if I understand that correctly, it is done with group privileges.
However, I still need to be able to attach the *specific user* to the
creation of the page (there may be a separate database for that or just
embedded comments, not sure yet).

Okay, I guess this is sort of re-iteration, but how would a special
page "directly insert the article" -- keeping in mind it needs to
return form data to a php script on the server for processing which
will add the MW + Semantic markup? Again, I do not want to require
the user to learn the templates, or the chance to screw them up, etc.,
so it cannot be a simple "create page".

MK <halfcountplus(a)intergate.com>
I have a template I use for about 1/4 of all the pages on my wiki that is pretty complex. I have many sections that if are left blank, the entire section does not show up.
But when those sections are left blank, the template leave whitespace (line breaks) filling the area that section would have been in.
Id like it if the sections were blank that it truly ignores that area. It probably has to do with the white space in the template, but without it, it's very unreadable (example below if needed)
From my template:
{{ #if: {{{Hooking it up |}}} |
== Hooking it up ==
{{{Hooking it up}}}
}}
{{ #if: {{{Code Information|}}} |
== Code ==
{{{Code Information}}}
}}
{{ #if: {{{Availability |}}} |
==Availability==
{{{Availability}}}
}}
so if I have:
| Hooking it up = this that
| Code Information = hello code
| Availability = Availability of this
Everything is fine. But if I have this (blank code section):
|Hooking it up = this that
|Code Information =
|Availability = Availability of this
I end up with the section for code being blank, but it still takes up space on the page as if I had a ton of line breakes.
thanks,
-Adam
Hello guys,
all I want to do is to display an alternative category name on an
article page. I included the following:
[[Kategorie:A1:Kapitel 3|Kapitel 3]]
But instead of displaying Kapitel 3 he shows me A1:Kapitel 3. Why
doesn't this work?
Thank you in advance.

Hello guys,
I downloaded the latest stable release 1.16 and changed the skin to
the new "Vector" but wonder why my local version still differs in some
ways from the version mediawiki, wikimedia, wikipedia etc. uses.
Some points that I noticed:
1. My search field has to additional submit buttons right beside the
field, one with "Site/Seite" and one called "search/suchen". The field
on wikipedia does not have these.
2. While editing a page I still have the old editor. How can I get the new one?
Well that's it mostly. Thanks for your response.
