Hi,
We finally got a new Linux based server (running on VMware) to migrate
our current v1.6 wiki for our company knowledge-base to. It's been a
quite long story (bankruptcy&acqusition-survival-sort-of-stuff) to get
to the current status, which nothing to do with my question.
Anyhow, the existing stand-alone machine is another kind of Linux
(Centos). I'm guessing our database is relatively simple, mainly text
+image files. Since we got a new server, I think we have some options to
do the migration safely and effectively. We already got V1.15.2
installed and running on the new server. Does anybody have suggestions
for the migration procedure? Or can anybody point me to a wiki page(s)
where I can find the info I'm looking for?
Just like most of you, we don't have a dedicated IT person who I might
able to ask to do some research.
Lots of thanks in advance.
Toshi
Is there a setting I can change on my wikipedia account preferences that
will cause all times to be displayed in EST (New York City) form. Because
I haven't been able to find it....

On the mediawiki web page for the EmbedVideo extension is this warning:
"This extension appears to have been abandoned by its author. If you have any up-to-date information about this extension, please update the page and remove this notice. Users are advised against installing this extension on any current versions of MediaWiki!"
Does anyone know of another extension that supplies the same functionality as EmbedVideo?
Thanks,
Dan Nessett

When I tried to save the contents of the page then I am getting the error
Error: The text you have submitted is 2,056 kilobytes long, which is longer
than the maximum of 2,048 kilobytes. It cannot be saved.
Does anybody have an idea how to get rid of it?
Do I need to change some setting of mysql or php on the server side?
Thanx in advance

Hi all, in my wiki (vers. 1.13) I have several pages with sub pages. I
would like to have a list of subpages in the page TOC, say, for
instance:
TOC:
1. title 1
1.1. title 2
1.2. title 3
Subpages:
this is the first subpage
this is the second subpage
I made some research via google and on mediawiki site without result,
thus I made this by templates but I don't like the result.
Is this feature available in the box in any other version of Mediawiki?
There is any extension to make this or there are people working on
such extension to work with?
TIA
G.

hi,
our mediawiki 1.15.1 has the following problem:
watching, navigating, searching,... everything works fine but whenever
we try to edit a page we run into dificulties since the last few days:
the browser stops after a while - showing an empty page. no edit-window,
no error-message, ...strange! :-(
FF leaves an empty page.
IE says: (the german version of) the website could not be shown.
i tried debugging:
- apache-log: nothing in error_log nor access_log
- LocalSettings.php: "$wgShowExceptionDetails = true;" - nothing shown.
i have to add, that the wiki is one of a wiki-family
(http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Wiki_family); the others are
working fine.
does anybody know how to find out what's going on there? any help is
appreciated.
kind regards
jens
Hi,
Is it possible for sub pages or links to be clickable on. I am finding that
having a structure to a wiki causes navigation problems. I keep on having to
go back to the main page in order to navigate.
I have a reference manual page with lots of links to sub pages, I would like
the 'Reference Manual' to be clickable on :-
Reference Manual/Inheritance
Many thanks in advance,
Aaron
