I checked the log. There is no indication of any problems there. I have never received an apache-specific error.
According to the installation instructions I'm using, I have created a PHP page that calls the phpinfo() function which returns a page listing the configuration particulars for my set up.
When I run that PHP info page, there is no section concerning MySQL. Others have told me there should be one. MySQL is referenced many times in other sections of the output, always pointing to the correct directory and never commented out.
Part of that output reads:
;Default port number for mysql_connect(). If unset, mysql_connect() will use
;the $MYSQL_TCP_PORT or the mysql-tcp entry in /etc/services or the
;compile-time value defined at MYSQL_PORT (in that order). Win32 will only look
;at MYSQL_PORT.
mysql.default_port =
Now, I'm confused by $MYSQL_TCP_PORT. Is this an environment variable? It doesn't have the format for a Windows environment variable, but I don't know what else it might be.
There is no entry in /etc/services connected with MySQL.
Likewise, what does MYSQL_PORT refer to
Is any of that relevant to my situation?

Have you looked at your Apache error log?
Have you copied the libmysql.dll file from the PHP directory to
c:\windows\system32? Even with the c:\php folder in my path it didn't
work for me until I did that. Apache had the following error as well:
PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library
'C:/PHP/ext/php_mysql.dll' - The specified module could not be found.
Here is my config:
Windows Vista Home Premium SP2
apache_2.2.13-win32-x86-openssl-0.9.8k
mysql-essential-5.1.38-win32
php-5.2.10-Win32

o My installation is running on (or failing to run on) Windows Vista Home Premium.
o My PHP installation is at D:\php and the extensions are in D:\php\ext.
o The PATH system variable shows that D:\php\ext is included.
o In the php.ini file, the extension_dir is set with this entry: extension_dir=D:\php\ext

o My computer has exactly one php.ini file. It is located at d:\php\php.ini. I have verified this by using the file explorer's find file function.

o This reports that the Loaded Configuration File is D:php\php.ini.

Charles,
in the PHP.ini file that gets loaded, there is a setting that specifies
where the extensions are...
For example on my system (PHP 5.3 installed via WAMPServer) it is ...
extension_dir = "e:/wamp/bin/php/php5.3.0/ext/" (Im running on Windows)
Also remember that there may be several PHP.ini files - one that the PHP
command line uses, and one that Apache (etc) uses.
If you enter the following in your webbrowser, you'll see what the PHP
info is being used for the webserver (which is what matters to MediaWiki).
http://localhost/?phpinfo=1
(PS, replace localhost with the name of your webserver if not local).
I hope this helps,
Jon

I don't think php does it, although if it's in the PATH php may also get
it.
PHP configuration is at file php.ini
Php should load php_mysql.dll when you have extension=php_mysql.dll on
the appropiate section there.
It expects to find that file at the folder pointed by extension_dir

I know this topic was discussed some time ago -- basically before
user-accounts were added (I believe).
But I would *really* like the ability to print with links in color - for the
following reasons;
1. The availability of color printers has greatly increased since the
inception of Wiki.
2. I'd like to be able on hardcopies to see how much further I can "dive"
into an article.
Would in be possible to put on the "Appearance" tab a "Print Links in Color"
checkbox?
Thanks for listening
KC
Dear mediawikis,
We run a MediaWiki.
For each of our users, we would like to get a list of IP addresses that
the user has used while logged in (or logged in from).
Is this possible? If so, how?
(I'm sure this has been answered already, but my Google-fu is failing
me, so my apologies if this is a duplicate.)
Thanks,
Reid
Dear All,
We are using the Header Tab extension which is causing major frustration to our users. When edits are made to a particular tab, previewed and saved. The page then returns back to the first header as appose to an edit on the second, third or fourth tab. The user then needs to click back into the edited tab to see any changes.
The second issue with Header Tabs appears to be searching. The search picks up the words within the tabs but when you click on the link you are taken to the page and it is up to the users to go through the tabs to find the "searched word," somewhat takes away the search result, ok! you get to the page but then need to find what you are looking for on that page.
If anyone could offer any assistance, advice or has over come this issue with the extension then this would be appreciated.
Thanks
David

Hi,
Apologies for posting about this ancient Mediawiki version, but I'm
working in a corporate environment that prevents me from getting a
more up to date version of Mediawiki.
Environment: Mediawiki 1.11.0, PHP 5.0.1, MySQL 5.0.24, DPL 1.8.8
(other DPL versions tried with same results)
Our Wiki was recently moved to a new hosting environment, and during
the move my DPL extension was removed (I was using 1.7.5 at the time).
I have reinstalled DPL several times, but all of them result errors
when using the <DPL> or {{#dpl: constructs.
>From what I can see, the call to $wgContLang->getNamespaces() does not
give any results and thus any use of |namespace=Foofoo results in an
error message:
Extension:DynamicPageList (DPL), version 1.8.8 : ERROR: Wrong 'Foofoo'
parameter: ! Help: Action= empty string (Main)$3.
Using the DPL constructs without a namespace parameter results in:
-------
The DPL extension (version 1.8.8) produced a SQL statement which lead
to a Database error.
The reason may be an internal error of DPL or an error which you made,
especially when using DPL options like titleregexp.
Query text is:
SELECT DISTINCT cl_head.cl_to, `wasabi_page`.page_namespace as
page_namespace,`wasabi_page`.page_title as
page_title,`wasabi_page`.page_id as page_id,
IFNULL(cl_head.cl_sortkey, REPLACE(CONCAT(
IF(`wasabi_page`.page_namespace=0, , CONCAT(CASE
`wasabi_page`.page_namespace END, ':')), `wasabi_page`.page_title),
'_', ' ')) as sortkey FROM `wasabi_page` LEFT OUTER JOIN
(`wasabi_categorylinks` AS cl_head) ON (page_id=cl_head.cl_from) INNER
JOIN `wasabi_categorylinks` AS cl0 ON
`wasabi_page`.page_id=cl0.cl_from AND (cl0.cl_to='Action') WHERE 1=1
AND NOT (`wasabi_page`.page_title LIKE 'List' OR
`wasabi_page`.page_title LIKE 'List/Archive') AND
`wasabi_page`.page_is_redirect=0 ORDER BY cl_head.cl_to, sortkey ASC
LIMIT 0, 500
Error message is:
You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that
corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use
near 'END, ':')), `wasabi_page`.page_title), '_', ' ')) as sortkey FR
(xxxxxxxx.xxx.cell)
-------
Again, I think this is related to the namespace array not being
populated, as the SQL error is caused by the absence of 'WHEN ... THEN
... ELSE' inside the CASE ...END. That part is generated in the code
by looping over the namespace array:
$aNs = $wgContLang->getNamespaces();
ExtDynamicPageList::$allowedNamespaces = array_slice($aNs, 2,
count($aNs), true);
....
// We need the namespaces with strictly positive indices (DPL
allowed namespaces, except the first one: Main).
$aStrictNs = array_slice(ExtDynamicPageList::$allowedNamespaces, 1,
count(ExtDynamicPageList::$allowedNamespaces), true);
// map ns index to name
$sSqlNsIdToText = 'CASE '.$sPageTable.'.page_namespace';
foreach($aStrictNs as $iNs => $sNs)
$sSqlNsIdToText .= ' WHEN ' . intval( $iNs ) . " THEN " .
$dbr->addQuotes( $sNs );
$sSqlNsIdToText .= ' END';

Hey all,
I have a mediawiki installed with the confirm account extension.
However, I want to be able to allow users choose their own user-name.
As the moment they are able to do is Username:(same as real name).
Has anybody any ideas on how to do this?
Thanks,
j
I'm trying to write an extension to an extension (ParserFunctions).
Specifically, I would like to call runReplace from a new extension.
I don't want to extend class, because would like to make backward compatable
(1.16 uses different class system).
Can someone give me hint on how to functional perform the following using
parser function used by #replace. Perhaps executing the same hook that
executes runReplace and if so, what is that hook and how can I find ways to
set up the arguments properly?
/**
* {{#replace_e:value|from|to}}
* Note: If the needle is an empty string, single space is used instead.
* From and to will be escaped using c-syntax before checking value (which
is not escpace)
*/
function runReplace_e( &$parser, $inStr = '', $inReplaceFrom = '',
$inReplaceTo = '' ) {
return (runReplace( &$parser, $inStr, stripcslashes($inReplaceFrom) ,
stripcslashes($inReplaceFrom)));
}

I've been trying to fix this one on the OpenOffice.org Wiki for a while,
but am getting nowhere... maybe someone here has an idea?
I've defined these mime types in both the apache2/conf/mime.types file
and in the wiki/includes/mime.types file:
application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.chart odc
application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.chart-template otc
application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.database odb
application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.formula odf
application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.formula-template otf
application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.graphics odg
application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.graphics-template otg
application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.image odi
application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.image-template oti
application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.presentation odp
application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.presentation-template otp
application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.spreadsheet ods
application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.spreadsheet-template ots
application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.text odt
application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.text-master odm
application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.text-template ott
application/vnd.oasis.opendocument.text-web oth
application/vnd.openofficeorg.extension oxt
These should be correctly defined according to the standards outlined
here: http://www.iana.org/assignments/media-types/
These file extensions are also defined in the $wgFileExtensions variable
in LocalSettings.php.
This seems to be working except for the OXT definition - the last one.
When a Wiki user attempts to upload an OXT file to the Wiki they get an
error message:
============
The file is corrupt or has an incorrect extension. Please check the file
and upload again.
============
I've checked the file with file -bi and it returns application/x-zip.
Since this does not match what the file really is (ie
application/vnd.openofficeorg.extension) then the error is returned.
So, my question is... what needs to be done to convince the Wiki that
the OXT file is really application/vnd.openofficeorg.extension? Is this
an error in the creation of the OXT file? or possibly something I've
done wrong on the Wiki admin side? or... ??
