Hello mediawikiers,
I 've got a question for you...
I'm a newbie with mediawiki and I have recently intalled my own.
When I 've changed the mainpage at "MediaWiki:Mainpage" everything goes well
but i 've noticed that my new main page is listed on "Special:Lonelypages"
now... is this normal? can i avoid that? Because of course, this is a
orphan page, but it is the root of the tree!
Many thanks in advance,
Ignacio

First there was nothing...
...and then MediaWiki showed up. ;-) I can't find the link where I read
first about all the skins, but possibly it is somewhere on MediaWiki.org
actually; Monobook was created far before modern was. 'myskin', 'monobook'
and some more skins looks pretty the same, but modern was created in 1.12 <
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:$wgDefaultSkin> and uses other id's;
therefore, modern uses it's own common, print and such .css'es.

Suppose I have a variable called $Test_int, somewhere in the mediawiki extension that I'm trying to make. Whats the easiest way to know what value that variable has been assigned?
I've tried $wgOut but in this case, it probably outputs wgOut but its all gone in the blink of an eye when the page refreshes or when other codes executes. I need a more permanent method of tracking the variable value. Any hints?
thanks!

Hi all,
We have been having some problems where deleting pages takes a
ridiculously long time -- something just less than minute. I tracked
it down to a particular SQL statement that is getting held up due to
another process holding a lock open. I can't figure out what created
the lock, and why it's hanging. Could this possibly be a Mediawiki
issue, or is this definitely a separate MySQL problem?
I see that this is query that is being blocked:
UPDATE /* 127.0.0.1 */ `page` SET page_counter = page_counter + 1
WHERE page_id = <page id>
Here is the Innodb status while the process hangs: http://pastebin.com/m1afe0b2
I'm not sure how to figure out what opened the lock and what that
process was doing. It could be that my MySQL debugging skills are
just woefully lacking. But I figured I'd post here to see if anyone
else had seen something similar or had any ideas.
Thanks!
Nathan
Take a look here:
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Entering_a_formula#Example_2:_.CF.…
The wild spacing is being caused by an incorrect rendering of /simeq in
WikiMath in several places in this section.
Anyone have any ideas why this one symbol is broken? or how to correct it?

Hi,
it would be nice to have the same icons following an internal
media-link as the ones displayed behind external links:
e.g.:
* [http://localhost/Example.pdf doc.pdf] {pdf-icon-15x15.gif}
* [[Media:Example.pdf|doc.pdf]] {**same as above**}
How could I achieve this?
TIA for any hint,
Peter
As of today, and up to and including next Monday, http://translatewiki.net
is having its second ever Translation Rally[1]. As an incentive to our
translators, we are dividing 1,000 Euro over all translators that contribute
500 or more new translations to MediaWiki or its extensions.
This Translation Rally has kindly been made possible by a grant from the
International Projects fund of the Dutch Wikimedia chapter Vereniging
Wikimedia Nederland[2] to Stichting Open Progress[3], that coordinates the
financial aspect of the Translation Rally.
We call on all non-English speakers to take part in this Translation Rally
and make it as big a success as possible, so that MediaWiki can stay one of
the best localised pieces of software in the known universe. The first
Translation Rally ended with 35 translators meeting the requirements[4], and
some 20,000 new messages were translated over the regular stream. A success
we could not have imagined. We dare you to do even better this time.
Cheers!
