Ever since I upgraded late last night, all new user accounts are being
created twice. At least it appears this way on the Recent Changes page and
account creation log. This happened for all new users since the update. Here
is a sample entry:
# (User creation log); 00:01 . . FooBar (Talk | contribs | block) New user
# (User creation log); 00:01 . . FooBar (Talk | contribs | block) New user
I upgraded using the usual (WITH shell access) method, first extracting the
files into the wiki root with the "strip-components" option, then running
php update.php in the maintenance directory. I've been upgrading ever since
1.9 like this and never had an issue.
Any ideas?
Thanks
How does one update mediawiki and installed extensions at the same time?
The best I can come up with is:
$ svn update . extensions/NewestPages
At revision 49225.
At revision 49225.
Hi all,
I'm working on a new stylesheet based on Monobook and I want to move the
'p-personal'-portlet to the bottom of the sidebar. 'Moving' the portlet from
the top-left corner of the screen is no problem, but it displays above the
navigation and toolbox portlets in the sidebar, and it can't be moved via
'Mediawiki:Sidebar'. What to do? Please? Thanks!
/Claus
Here is an example:
Fort Wayne TinCaps
If you type "fort wayne tincaps" in to Wikipedia you will get to "Fort
Wayne TinCaps" without having to set up a redirect.
However, with a typical Mediawiki installation you have to set up
those redirects if there is either different capitalization within a
word or at the beginning of one word but not the other.
Hi, I would like to implement Wikipedia's image feature where it can
automatically link to Wikimedia Commons without downloading another copy of
the image. However, I do not want to link to Wikimedia Commons but to my own
separate database.
The reason why I intend to do this is because my webhost has suggested that
I do not exceed 200MB for my database. At present, I have already exceeded
this proposed limit because of all the images that I have downloaded. I was
thinking of breaking up Dummipedia.org <http://dummipedia.org> into a few
subdomains, but then realized that since text files do not occupy much
space, I might as well transfer all the images into a separate database.
This will avoid both linking and category problems.
Any advice will be helpful.

Where can I view a good resource on setting permissions in MW v.1.17?
I'd like to somehow set them by category, if that seems the best way.
Thanks.

Can I have a link to your wiki to see it myself?

I am trying to add the Get Satisfaction widget to Mediawiki. Here is
some sample code:
<style type='text/css'>@import
url('http://s3.amazonaws.com/getsatisfaction.com/feedback/feedback.css');</style>
<script src='http://s3.amazonaws.com/getsatisfaction.com/feedback/feedback.js'
type='text/javascript'></script>
<script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8">
var tab_options = {}
tab_options.placement = "right"; // left, right, bottom, hidden
tab_options.color = "#FFF"; // hex (#FF0000) or color (red)
GSFN.feedback('http://getsatisfaction.com/jetblue/feedback/topics/new?display=overlay&styl…',
tab_options);
</script>
Does anyone know how I could do this? I assume there are two routes -
one directly in Monobook.php and another as an extension. I'm
actually surprised there isn't an extension for this, but could anyone
help me out on what to do?
Thanks!
Bobby
Hello there!
Is there a magic word or a similar function in MediaWiki (version 13.3) to get the language out of the browser settings?
For example: If a non-logged-in user visits the wiki the main page should show the language given in the user's browser settings. Is there a way to handle this?
