we've since started considering applicants from outside of the San

I'm trying to download this version using tortoise SVN on windows with the following repository:
http://svn.wikimedia.org/svnroot/med...anches/REL1_15
I keep getting the following message:
Server sent unexpected return value (403 Forbidden) in response to MKACTIVITY
request for '/svnroot/mediawiki/!svn/act/4de6bddd-9d09-b04f-900d-45899a0e9df3'
Anyone have any idea what might be wrong?
Thanks,

I have an old mediawiki installation, which used to run on mysql 4 and
mediawiki 1.6 (ish). I dumped the database and moved to a new machine,
with mysql 5 and mediawiki 1.14. When I import the data to the new
wiki, I get a choice between mysql 5 binary, mysql 5 UTF-8 and
backwards-compatible mysql 4 UTF-8. If I choose either of the mysql 5
options, the install produces a warning that the database is still
using the mysql 4 schema, and all non-ascii characters are corrupt. If
I choose the mysql 4 option, everything seems to work fine, but I get
a dire warning that using mysqldump may break all non-ascii
characters.
I need to use mysqldump to back up the wiki. So -- how can I upgrade
my mysql4 database to one of the new mysql 5 schemata?
Thanks,
Ben

Hello,
I would like to use simple footnotes and aftre some reading I installed
Extension:Cite. But integrating it in LocalSettings.php via ...
require_once( "$IP/extensions/Cite/Cite.php" );
... lets Apache throw a 500 (= internal server error).
What really puzzles me:
a) apache accesss.log:
###.###.###.### - user.name [25/Mar/2009:11:17:51 +0100] "GET
/wiki/index.php/Hauptseite HTTP/1.0" 500 26 "http://www.mydomain.tld/"
b) apache error.log:
- nothing -
c) PHP log:
- nothing -
The only indication of a failure is the status code '500' in apache's
access.log and the empty screen after calling the wiki mainpage.
Any hints?
Peter
Hi mediawiki folks,
I installed MediaWIki 1.14.0 on my Mac OS X Server 10.4 machine. I'm
running Apache 2.2.11, php 5.2.9 and MySQL 5.0.77. I had no problem running
config/index.php, but when I try to the link to index.php/Main_Page the
server times out with "Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds
exceeded in Unknown on line 0" in the error_log. I tried tracing this, and
got to includes/Wiki.php, specifically line 447: $article->view(); . If I
comment this line out the page doesn't hang, but also fails to display
anything...
Any ideas?
TIA
Marius
Hi, how do I resolve an error as below:
A database query syntax error has occurred. This may indicate a bug in the
software. The last attempted database query was:
(SQL query hidden)
from within function "LocalFile::loadFromDB". MySQL returned error "1054:
Unknown column 'img_sha1' in 'field list' (localhost)".

Hello All,
Now, I am not sure if this is a Mediawiki issue or something else, but I am having an issue with a consistent image cache... Here is my issue.
I have about 6 frontend web servers that host the mediawiki software, all of which connect to a backend NFS server to share the same image files (not the software itself, just the images directory). When a user uploads a file for the first time, it works as expected, but if later they make modifications to the same image file and re-upload the file, they will randomly get the old or the new version for about an hour or so then it will be fixed. The end users have tried to purge the image but that does not work. We have to wait it out.
Has anyone had this issue?
Does anyone have any better ideas to share an image directory to multiple frontend servers?
Can we use an http:// address for the images path instead of looking at the local file system?
Thanks for you help
