Posting to the list.
Before posting to this list, please read the MediaWiki FAQ[10]. Many common
questions are answered here. You may also search the list archives to see if
your question has been asked before.
Please try to ask your question in a way that enables people to answer you.
Provide all relevant details, explain your problem clearly, etc. You may
wish to read [13], which explains how to ask questions well.
To post to the list, send mail to <mediawiki-l(a)lists.wikimedia.org>. This is a
public list, so you should not include confidential information in mails you
send.
When replying to an existing thread, use the "Reply" or "Followup" feature of
your mail client, so that clients that understand threading can sort your
message properly. When quoting other messages, please use the "inline" quoting
style[11], for clarity.
When creating a new thread, do not reply to an existing message and change the
subject. This will confuse peoples' mail readers, and will result in fewer
people reading your mail. Instead, compose a new message for your post.
Messages posted to the list have the "Reply-To" header set to the mailing list,
which means that by default, replies will go to the entire list. If you are
posting a reply which is only interesting to the original poster, and not the
list in general, you should change the reply to only go to that person. This
avoids cluttering the list with irrelevant traffic.

Subject: [FOSDEM] FOSDEM 2009: Call for devrooms, stands and lightning talks
To: FOSDEM <fosdem(a)lists.fosdem.org>
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
FOSDEM is probably the most developer-oriented Free and Opensource
conference, taking place in Brussels, Belgium on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8
February 2009. Apart from having many invited speakers, the conference
offers developer rooms, stands and lightning talks to projects from the
Free and Opensource community.
We hereby welcome proposals from projects to participate in organizing a
devroom, manning a stand or holding a lightning talk.
As every year, we have only a limited number of rooms, space for stands
and lightning talk slots. Since we always receive more requests than we
can host, a committee within the FOSDEM organizing team will review all
proposals. Selection will be based on possible impact, our experience of
previous editions and diversity in the offerings.
*** Devrooms
We offer large projects a devroom during the conference. A devroom is a
room in which projects can organize their own schedule made of
presentations, brainstorming and hacking sessions. Our goal is to
stimulate developer collaboration and cross-pollination between
projects, and as such we strongly favor projects with similar goals and
domains to host a devroom together.
See http://fosdem.org/2009/call_for_devrooms_and_stands
*** Stands
We offer stands to projects that want to present themselves to the
visitors in a more personal fashion. Stands can be used to share
information, demo software, sell merchandizing or give away goodies.
See http://fosdem.org/2009/call_for_devrooms_and_stands
*** Lightning talks
We offer lightning talks to all other projects that want to present
themselves. A lightning talk is a short talk in which a project can
introduce itself, talk about recent developments, or share exciting new
directions.
See http://fosdem.org/2009/call_for_lightningtalks
FOSDEM 2009 will be the 9th edition of the event, which has been
steadily growing every year in importance and in the number of visitors.
Our goal is to provide a platform to Free and Opensource projects to
meet, discuss, present their current and future developments, both to
their own developer and user community as to other projects that are
present. Given the large amount of active contributors from many
different projects present during the conference, it is an exceptionally
well suited occasion to share goals and ideas with people from other
communities, which is something we strongly encourage and do our best to
support. Of course, the event only lives through the projects that take
part in it, and through the many FOSS contributors who attend. We merely
do our best to provide the best possible service to the FOSS community
at large.
*** Key dates:
* 2008-11-22: Deadline for devroom & stand requests
* 2008-11-30: Devroom & stand acceptance notification
* 2008-12-26: Deadline for lightning talk requests
* 2008-12-29: Lightning talk acceptance notification
* 2009-01-09: Deadline for final devroom & lightning talk schedules
* 2009-02-07 to 2009-02-08: FOSDEM 2009
For more information, visit http://fosdem.org/
Feel free to forward, kind regards,
The FOSDEM Team

Hello,
How can I locate an search box in the middle of the main page?
I plan like to remove the current search box from the common pages
layout , by css setting or changeing the skin.
Thanks,
Addady
Hi,
I followed the example as in the semantic forms extension and am running
against a small problem.
When I create a book through the Form:Book, the author shows up in red
and links to the author's page as a regular edit instead of to the
Form:Author.
When I edit the author's page in the usual way and then delete that
page, the link to the author turns red again but now it brings me
straight to the Form:Author.
Could someone tell me what could be wrong?
I'm using MW1.13 and adjusted the Linker.php as said (version 1.11 and
1.12 section).
Thanks,
Alain
Is there an extension that shows pages/links as a network. This would
be graphic similar to that mindmap but using the links as the relations
I have not been able to find one but thought I would ask

Hi,
I need to embed the same template on each image description page (the page
you get when you click on a thumbnail image).
I found a similar request here:
http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/wiki/mediawiki/129846
According to answer given by Brianna (
http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/wiki/mediawiki/129448?do=post_view_fl…),
javascript seems to be the easiest solution to insert default text in
summary box.
Since *I don't speak javascript*, I thought it best to ask here. Thanks in
advance for any help.
Laurent
(sorry for my bad english)
I've long usod the patch for putting arbitrary
wikitext into the side bar, but but according to
the manual it won't work in the latest version of
mediawiki. I really don't like not to update, but
neither do I want to lose this possoibility. What
is there to do?

Hi,
after creating the "Main Page" with a report of the last 5 guides created using DynamicPageList they do a search on the categories, but I want see the next text of to the pipe link on the category.
For example:
"[[aiuto_windowsxp_gino|Error gino]] Windows XP" in the results I got "Aiuto windowsxp gino" while I would find "Errore gino" and "Windows XP". The category is defined in "Aiuto windowsxp gino". Someone has any idea?
thanks
Matteo

copy into http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Bilardi/taxobox
I test new piece with http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Bilardi/taxoboxtest
and I follow step about 'Making changes' paragraph of
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Taxobox until six point:
