Hi,
I have created a new extension called SelectCategoryTagCloud. It displays
categories as a tag cloud on the edit page for users to select and unselect
categories. It also has an AJAX based suggest feature to suggest existing
categories to the user when keying in the name for a category.
It's available on
http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:SelectCategoryTagCloud.
The code is heavily based on two other extensions (SelectCategory and
WikiCategoryTagCloud). It needs some cleaning up and streamlining of the
configuration. But it should be fully functional.
Anyone have a suggestion where to maintain the source code to handle
bugfixes and future releases?
Cheers,
Andi
After enabling licensing, in the description pages for all
uploaded files, something like this shows up:
Licensing
{{subst:Non-commercial from license selector}}
Anyone have any idea why /subst:/ would not work? As posted
previously, parser functions don't work either. Could there
be a connexion?
You can see these non-working functions at

Hi all,
I am currently working in a project which requires to exporting user
information from Mediawiki MySQL database to OpenLDAP directory (with
Berkeley database). Everything is fine except the password issue. I am
not sure what hash algorithm does Mediawiki use to hash user password,
(But I guess it may be MD5). However, I can't get the same hash value by
using OpenLDAP slappasswd with {MD5}, {SHA}, {SMD5}, {CRYPT} AND {SSHA}
algorithms. Therefore I am wondering if any one has similar experience
that can share with me. Any hints, tips would be much appreciated!
Thanks

Not sure if this can even be done, but...
A user has asked if we can add the regular edit page toolbar to the
TableEdit extension's table editor specialpage. Note that the
relevant pages have multiple textareas and the number of textareas is
not fixed; it depends on the number of columns in the table.
So... the general question is can one add the toolbar to forms in
extension Special Pages with more than one textarea, and if so, how?
Similar question wrt adding the insertChar extension to Special Pages.
Thanks!
Jim

I'd like to extend all User pages so they contain display some common
information: for example, telephone and office information pulled from
ActiveDirectory/LDAP, or the contents of a particular wiki Template.
When writing an extension to do this, which hook would be the most
appropriate to use, so I can prepend or append such information to every
User page?
Thank you,
DanB
Hi,
so I created a new specialpage. Going on I need some sessionhandling in
there. At the moment id semms not be startet.
$wgAutoloadClasses['WizardBase']='./includes/WizardBase.php';
$wgAutoloadClasses['naw_WizardFunctions']='./extensions/NewArticleWizard/NewArticleWizardFunctions.php';
class NewArticleWizard
extends SpecialPage implements WizardBase
{
public function __construct()
{
....
}
}
So is there a global var which controlls the session or must it be
startet via session_start(); ?
Thanks for some useful hints

Hello,
I'm very new to MediaWiki, so I hope you'll excuse what might be a
basic question. I'd like to have most category pages display as a
paginated list of subcategories, but I want the list to be two levels
deep and displayed according to the categories' sort order with no
letter headings:
Land Tenure
Landholding
Central European Landholding
Sicilian Landholding
South American Landholding
Tenant Farming
Sharecropping
Land Use
...
(previous 100) (next 100)
For the highest levels of the hierarchy, I'd like only to display two
levels of subcategories.
It looked as though NiceCategoryList2 might help, but it's not
working on MW 1.10.1 (it displays some numbers instead of the
category listing, and plus, I believe this won't replace the default
category page when I use the <ncl> tag, nor will it paginate the
list. Does anyone have suggestions for solving these issues? Do I
need to write my own extension? Or perhaps is this straying too far
from the intended use of categories, in which case I could construct
the hierarchy through simple MW pages (though the lists would still
need to be paginated)?

This should be really obvious but I can't find an obvious statement on
mediawiki.org. I have 1.10rc1, I want to upgrade to 1.10.1. Do I just
unzip the tarball over the top of it, or is there more subtlety
involved?
