Dear all,
I've update all core files in my wiki from 1.9.3 to 1.10.0 and after that
I've tried to upgrade database schema using update.php in maintenance folder
as readme file says to do that:
=== Perform the database upgrade ===
You will need an AdminSettings.php file set up in the correct format; see
AdminSettings.sample in the wiki root for more information and examples.
>From the command line, browse to the maintenance directory and run the
update.php script to check and update the schema. This will insert missing
tables, update existing tables, and move data around as needed. In most
cases,
this is successful and nothing further needs to be done.
I have AdminSettings.php file correctly configured.
But, as I'm trying to run this script through browser, it does not work. I
cannot run this script from command line because of I'm using commercial
hosting services and I don't have ssh access to my files to run them.
How do I do upgrade my database files?

I'm trying to build up a set of tags using a parser extension that will produce a textbox and a search button that allows a user to search within a custom pre-defined Namespace. The Inputbox has a bug which doesnt make it work for my NS because it contains the ampersand (&) character. Also the Inputbox though great produces a checkbox on the output too, which I dont want. More manual coding might enable me to get rid of the checkbox as well do the search.
Has anyone here done this, i.e. tried to make your own search textbox? I'm guessing it will mean reproducing and manipulating code from SpecialSearch.php for my own extension.
thanks

I am receiving a problem with thumbnails when using jpeg files:
Error creating thumbnail:
/home/content/k/o/w/kowabunga/html/kagcdq/bin/ulimit-tvf.sh: line 3: ulimit:
cpu time: cannot modify limit: Operation not permitted /usr/bin/convert:
Unrecognized option (-thumbnail).
here is the code:
Thumbnails work fine if the image is a gif, only fails when the image is a
jpeg. fails consistently on jpegs.
Thanks

Hi all,
Just a note about deleting users. I have a wiki that was spammed with
about 100 "junk" usernames (made up of random characters), some of which
were then used to vandalize the content. After a little fruitless effort
with the DeleteUser extension
(http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Deleteuser) I figured out how to
delete them all in MySQL.
Wasn't difficult at all - just copied the userlist into a text file,
weeded out the real usernames (which were in the minority), inserted more
text into each line to make it an SQL command, and executed it all at
once.
This was a situation where I really needed to delete - the junk had
rendered the userlist useless, and none of the spammers had contributed
anything that I wanted to keep. Haven't seen any ill effects. And of
course now I've locked down registration to keep the spammers out.
Hi
I want to use HTMLForm.php to create a series of checkboxes & depending on the checkbox selected, use it for filtering results.
Could somebody point me to some example code using the methods in HTMLForm.php.
Thanks in advance,
Anand

Hello,
I know how to manipulate the MonoBook skin pretty well, but just installed
the Cologne Blue skin on another wiki (behind a firewall, so I can't link
to it). Darned if I can figure out in the template how to make this
change. I don't find this section coded seperately like it is in the Nav
bar on the left.
These main nav links currently appear at the bottom of each page, in the
template/skin:
Edit this page | Discuss this page | Page history | What links here |
Related changes
Main Page | About Adminwiki |
Find: (with the Go and Search buttons)
I'd like to move (or at least copy) these to appear at the top of the
skin/article instead, underneath the header.
- Anyone know what code it is that I need to copy or move?
- Also if you can confirm the file name, because maybe I'm looking in the
wrong file.
Thanks so much!

Hi,
I'm responsible for the administration of the wiki we're just starting
to set up at work. The wiki uses German language and I'd like to edit
the DefaultDateFormat, but I couldn't find out how and where. :(
At the Moment, when I use the button "Ihre Signatur mit Zeitstempel" to
sign a text with adding a timestamp, the stamp has the following format:
09:57, 3. Jul. 2007 (CEST)
The timestamp-format doesn't change, when I choose a different
date-format in my userprofile-preferences, so maybe it's not the
DefaultDateFormat I need to change, but a different parameter?
I'd like to change the timestamp-Format (and/or the DefaultDateFormat)
so that the timestamp looks like this:
03.06.2007, 09:57
In which file can I make this change and how?
Greetings

Hey, how about making such a thing available as a function or
template, or even brief set of instructions?
Or has that been done already...
What I would like (but have been too lazy to write) is a generalized
SQL extension that lets you access a special page for inserting/
editing MySQL records, and has a tag format for displaying formatted
records.
Or has that been done already...

The search results are in small font (<small>). I'd like to increase the font size (and maybe change the red color) a bit. Looks like the use of the "<small>" tag for the search formatting has been hard coded in SpecialSearch.php. Is there a way to effect the formatting without modifying internal files, for example using Mediawiki:Common.css?
thanks
