Is there a way to restrict feeds to a certain namespace or
category (eg, MAIN, PROJECT, etc.)? Our wiki have a couple
of links at the Main Page to the feeds provided by
Special:RecentChanges but I would like to restrict them
to articles only (and similarly to other pages like the
Community Portal, and so on).
Thank you
Javier
Welcome to mediawiki-l. This mailing list exists for discussion and questions

Posting to the list.
Before posting to this list, please read the MediaWiki FAQ[10]. Many common
questions are answered here. You may also search the list archives to see if
your question has been asked before.
Please try to ask your question in a way that enables people to answer you.
Provide all relevant details, explain your problem clearly, etc. You may
wish to read [13], which explains how to ask questions well.
To post to the list, send mail to <mediawiki-l(a)lists.wikimedia.org>. This is a
public list, so you should not include confidential information in mails you
send.
When replying to an existing thread, use the "Reply" or "Followup" feature of
your mail client, so that clients that understand threading can sort your
message properly. When quoting other messages, please use the "inline" quoting
style[11], for clarity.
When creating a new thread, do not reply to an existing message and change the
subject. This will confuse peoples' mail readers, and will result in fewer
people reading your mail. Instead, compose a new message for your post.
Messages posted to the list have the "Reply-To" header set to the mailing list,
which means that by default, replies will go to the entire list. If you are
posting a reply which is only interesting to the original poster, and not the
list in general, you should change the reply to only go to that person. This
avoids cluttering the list with irrelevant traffic.

Hello all!
Is there a way to use MediaWiki to automatically have emailed content
entered into the Wiki database? Most preferrably, we would like to be
able to establish our own rules for importing formating, URL references,
etc.
Thanks in advance.

I do not speak for the MW maintainers, but I believe this is to
explicitly prevent the logo from being changable via
MediaWiki:Monobook.css and MediaWiki:Common.css. That is,
that changing the logo requires actual back-end access, not simply a
sysop account on the wiki.
What follows is one solution to what you are trying to do - I cannot
help you any more than giving you the exact solution:
1) In an un-altered Monobook.php, locate and remove the style
attribute on the <a> tag under the p-logo div.
2) Add this to the article MediaWiki:Monobook.css:
#p-logo a {
background-image: url(http://server/path/to/regular-logo.gif);
}
#p-logo a:hover {
background-image: url(http://server/path/to/hover-logo.gif);
}
That's all it takes. I have tested this in a vanilla MW 1.9.3
install. Good luck!

I am creating a custom Preferences tab with a checkbox, and it's ALMOST
working. I'm sure I'm missing something simple... any guidance?
The behavior is:
* The new tab appears
* It contains a checkbox, "Test checkbox"
* When I click "Save" for the first time, the value gets properly
saved in the database, with a value of zero
* When I toggle the checkbox and Save again, the value "1" is
properly written to the database
* BUT..... the value remains "1" in the database, no matter what
else I do: toggling, saving, etc.
Here is the very short code:
$wgMyFunkyPreferences = new MyFunkyPreferences();
class MyFunkyPreferences {
public function __construct() {
global $wgHooks;
$wgHooks['RenderPreferencesForm'][] = array($this, 'render');
$wgHooks['UserToggles'][] = array($this, 'toggle');
}
function render($form, $out) {
$out->addHTML('<fieldset><legend>My Tab</legend>');
$out->addHTML($form->getToggle('mytoggle'));
$out->addHTML('</fieldset>');
return true;
}
function toggle($extraToggles) {
global $wgMessageCache;
$extraToggles[] = 'mytoggle';
$wgMessageCache->addMessage('tog-mytoggle', 'Test checkbox');
return true;
}
}
Thank you,
DanB
I've installed the extension. I'm using Firefox 2.0.0.8 so I took the
precaution of installing the locallinks add on too. The
<file>//FileStore/documents</file> syntax renders the link correctly. It
is green and if you right click and copy link and paste it to chrome,
Firefox opens file://///FileStore/documents. If I copy and paste this
part of the source into a test HTM page:-
<ul><li> To Add domains:-
<ul><li> See the public policy statement to send to end users at <a
style="color: green;"
href="file://///FileStore/documents">\\FileStore\documents</a>
Firefox opens the link fine. However on the Wiki page itself, nothing
happens, the cursor changes but clicking produces no result at all.
Anyone any ideas?

Hello,
my host provider has upgraded from mysql 4.1.11-Debian_4sarge5-log to mysql
5.0.32-Debian_7etch1-log
Since this upgrade, all my pages containing greek, cyrillic and some latin
extended chars are broken, MediaWiki display blank content.
When I edit, I see what horror happened :
if you look at
http://tousauxbalkans.jexiste.fr/index.php5?title=Accueil&action=edit
you'll see some ? instead of such chars (here a č uppercase)
* ?oček
I tried importing a dump made by mysql4, it doesn't work better.
I tried another host, which has mysql 5.0.27, it's the same horror.
What happened ? I already had problems with such chars in page_title which
is not a blob, but here it's in the content of a page, stored as a BLOB !
I'll ask my host to give me back a mysql4 database, and see if it'll be
better...

Hi,
How can I get the php_ldap.dll and php_openssl.dll?
What do I have to install? For example an LDAP server on my Apache server or
something other extensions do I have to install?
I used the following configuration to get regular authentication working
first. Despite it is NOT working:
require_once 'LdapAuthentication.php';
$wgAuth = new LdapAuthenticationPlugin();
$wgLDAPDomainNames = array(
'KAR'
);
$wgLDAPServerNames = array(
'KAR' => 'aab.kar.local',
);
$wgLDAPSearchStrings = array(
'KAR' => 'KAR\\USER-NAME',
);
$wgLDAPEncryptionType = array(
'KAR' => 'ssl',
);
$wgLDAPUseLocal = false;
$wgMinimalPasswordLength = 1;
System:
MediaWiki 1.10
Apache/2.2.4 (Win32) - runs on WinXP
PHP/5.2.3
MySQL 5.0.41
Microsoft Active Directory - runs on another server
