I follow the instruction
(
http://indifference.dyndns.org/savage/index.php?title=Export%20by%20categor…
)
to install the Export by category extension in 1.5.6
Hi, I have updated the page and instructions. I have tested it on MW1.6.5.
This time I skim-read the page on how to add write special pages! Now you
can just require it.
Glad someone else found the tweak handy!
Shout if you have more problems getting it to work.
Kind regards,
Alex
Reading through the MW documentation, it seems that the preferred way to
restrict the size of files that may be uploaded is to either modify the
Apache setup, or to modify the basic PHP setup. However, this doesn't
seem very clean to me--I assume it would affect all uploads (if using
Apache), or all uploads via PHP (if PHP setup is modified), not just
uploads to the MW site. Plus it requires going into stuff I'm not
familiar with :-). Plus it seems it might involve restarting the server,
always an undesirable prospect.
It would seem that .../includes/SpecialUpload.php would be an obvious
place to make a mod to restrict file size, but I can't see any place for
an easy "hook". (Please be aware that my only intro to PHP so far has
been MediaWiki :-) ). Is this a good place to try a mod? Or can others
suggest a better solution?
Thanks,
Ken
I follow the instruction
(http://indifference.dyndns.org/savage/index.php?title=Export%20by%20categor…)
to install the Export by category extension in 1.5.6
When add the line
$wgSpecialPages['APExport'] = new SpecialPage( 'APExport' );
Fatal error: Class 'SpecialPage' not found in C:\Program Files\Apache
Group\Apache2\htdocs\af\LocalSettings.php on line 115
How can I install it?
Are there any alternative way to export all the contents (or by
category) from mediawiki? I love to backup and transfer pages using
export other than database dump. I fell this is better way to kept a
safe copy as well as doing find/replace editing.
Thank you.

Hi,
Is there any way I can integrate html code into an article page
directly??
e.g : <object type="text/html" data="http://xyz.com/index.php"
height="370" width="420"></object>
thanks in advance,
AJ
Hi,
I'm not sure if anyone commented on my last question regarding using
a "+" sign with an article name... I was told to look up
$wgLegalTitleChars and tried various combinations to no avail.. what
value would I have to assign it to ensure I can create article pages
with the "+" sign??
Thanks in advance
AJ
Thank you for the responses and the link. Since we are running in Multi Master mode, I will have to conform to its limitations.

MediaWiki uses auto-incrementing fields for some of its primary keys. This is a no-no when operating in a MySQL replicated environment, due to the likelihood of multiple servers generating the same primary key number (should the servers lose connectivity).
For those of you who do operate in a MySQL replicated environment, how do you deal with this?

I understand how to make a wikifarm on a single server, but how does one
go about setting up multiple servers for a single wiki? Do I just copy
LocalSettings.php to two instances and set up some sort of recurring
rsync cron job for the /image directory?

MySQL is running at that time because the phpbb forum and other things
on that server are still working.

By restart, I guess you mean that MySql isn't running at the time.
Have you checked the system and mysql logs to see if mysqld is
crashing? Perhaps someone has a backup scheme which stops mysql while
a backup is being taken?

Hi,
I just have MediaWiki 1.7alpha installed on my machine. And I am wondering
how can I create pages that will be recognized as "Module" ( just like how
the "Module" are used in Wikibooks). I did some search but I couldn't find
anything. Any help will be appreciated.
Thank you!
