Hi,
I am pretty new to mediawiki, sorry for everything.
I read documentation, checked google but could not find an answer.
I have 4 main categories. I want to show 5 random articles from each 4
categories on my Main Page.
How can I do this?
Thank you...
Does Mediawik development have a Bugzilla or similarly-structured tracking
mechanism (I also recommend RequestTracker
<http://www.bestpractical.com/rt/>) for bugs/updates/enhancments (like my
case-sensitivity feature I'm about to request)?
If not, I suspect that the community could significantly benefit from such
a system. I have found it hard to operate without such systems on other
projects I both use and manage and can offer some minimal assistance with
setting these things up if anyone is interested.

Anyone using the mafs/RSS extension to parse RSS feeds?
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Mafs/RSS
Should work like a charm, but thing is, I've got my entire wiki behind
auth-basic (htaccess) protection. I'm wondering if that's preventing the
extension script from getting to the rss output (using to pull Recent
Changes feed)?
What makes me think that's the problem is that I can get it to work with an
outside public feed like from the BBC News or something. (I take this that
magpie 0.72 is working fine, etc...)
If I'm already cleared by apache or whatever because I'm already accessing
the wiki, I guess that doesn't matter because the rss extension is on the
server? I need to allow it access or something?
Any ideas/suggestions appreciated!

Hello all!
I would like to know if anyone knows if these two features are available
somehow in media-wiki 1.5.6
Is it possible those features are only 4 month old? (Age of 1.6A).
How did wikimedia users made "Ifs" before?
Thanks ahead!
Peleg.
Hello all...
Well, I wish to open a new wiki which is similar in many ways to the wiki I
already have.
I know the Export feature is not working yet, so I wondered if you know
about any other way to duplicate the wiki or the wiki database instead of
installing a new one and copy the pages one by one...
My wiki version is 1.5.6.
Thank you all very much,
Peleg.
Just duplicate the database using your normal database management
software, then take a copy of the files and point them to the new
database.

And Special:Import in 1.5.8 does?

Can MediaWiki be configured to store all images and user uploaded files into MySQL?
We are running in a replicated environment, and have our database replicating automatically.
We would prefer to store any user provided files in the database, so that we will not have to script out a replication solution for files stored on the filesystem.
Thanks,
-Brett

Hello there.
When I take an image
test: [[Afbeelding:image.png]]
and then try to use a thumbnail
test: [[Afbeelding:image.png|30px|]]
I get to see the image, but there is no thumbnail.
All I see in the apache error_log is something like:
File does not exist: /disk/www/wiki/images/thumb/8/88/image.png/20px-image.png
Is there a way to debug why the thumbnail isn't generated ?
(and yes I have set $wgUseImageResize = true; )
Regards,
Willem.
