Hi all,
I have created external login page, where it checks user availability in
both Oracle and MySql.
If the user exsists, I need the script to send user information to Wiki.
Where do I need to send the login information for wiki to create session and
do the normal user control?
Does anyone has an idea?
I really need your help on this.
I don't have much time left and I've been tied up with this for last 4 days.
Still having trouble figuring it out.
Your help will be really appreciated.
Please advice.

Hello,
I am a new User of mediawiki, and I am planning to put it up on my martial
arts related site. Being a wiki newbie, I don't know if and how I can do the
following:
When I write something like [[mypage]] and "mypage" doesn't exist yet, I
would like registered users to get a link to the edit screen for mypage
(standard behaviour), but unregistered readers should receive only an
emphasized version of "mypage", e.g. <b>mypage</b>. That way, I could
include lots of terminology in my site and gradually fill it up with
contents without going public with dozens of broken links (I know this is
not exactly the wiki way, but it is a business site, and I'd prefer not
having everybody editing it).
So basically: If a user is logged in, [[mypage]] would translate to <a
href=" /wiki/index.php?title=mypage&action=edit">mypage</a>, otherwise it
would translate to <b>mypage</b>. I am a programmer geek :-), so I guess I
could eventually come up with a solution for this myself, but I was
wondering if there is a "standardized hack" for such a behavior. Many thanks
in advance,
Sean Floyd
Hello guys,
I did some research and I am still having trouble with login via Oracle.
So I came up with different solution.
I just set up a seperate login page and let the user login from there.
This login page is checking user info against Oracle DB.
If user information exsists in Oracle, then it will proceed to Wiki.
Now, how can I integrate user session/cookie with Wiki?
Where should I look into?
Can anyone give me any suggestion?
Thank you for your time and help.
Regards,

Hi,
I was editing a page and when I saved I got an error:
"1205: Lock wait timeout
exceeded; Try restarting transaction" from mysql.
I tried to restart mysql, apache, the server, nothing seems to work.
Now, each time I edit this particular page, I get a message:
<b>Warning</b>: mysql_query() [<a
href='function.mysql-query'>function.mysql-query</a>]: Unable to save
result set in <b>E:\Program
Files\TSW\Apache2\htdocs\searchwiki\includes\Database.php</b> on line
<b>374</b><br />
I use: mySQL 4.0.2, mediawiki 1.5.3, php 5.0.0
Any idea?
Thanks!

Hi all,
I broke something. My wiki was working fine until...
I made a minor change to the LocalSettings.php page (the logo setting),
and now am getting blank pages popping up.
If I enter the URL as http://131.120.176.48/wiki, I get a blank page. If
I enter it as http://131.120.176.48/wiki/index.php/Main_Page, I get the
index page.
If I enter a term into the search box that I know exists and click Go, I
get a blank page. If I click on Search, I get search results and can
then usually go to the page.
I hunted the list archives and some folks had this problem with Firefox
after changing the LocalSettings.php file, but I am also having this
trouble with IE.
Does this ring any bells with anyone? All help appreciated.

Hi:
Let me understand what is meant in setting user rights and
permissions with '$wgGroupPermissions':
* Does this mean that some pages and/or groups of pages
can be set to allow editing by only certain groups or
individuals?
* And can page viewing be limited in the same manner?
* And if the above is so: is it necessary that said pages be
inside certain directories with the write permissions set
accordingly? Or is a 'flat' file model also an option, with
access on a file-by-file ownership basis?
* Also: Was all the above functionality available in v1.4.x
with settings such as '$wgWhitelistAccount' and
'$wgWhitelistEdit', etc.?

I have some base generic document that mus be altered to generate a new one.
The easyest way to do this is to copy/paste the document. But I wish
something different. Something like: open the "model" document through
link, edit it, and then save with another article name. Like "save as"
function.
I know we can use the "subst" and templates, but it would require some
saving and editing. Any other ideas?
Best Regards
Ricardo
I downloaded and installed Mediawiki 1.5.5 a few days ago, and have been
having a look. I have pretty good experience in PHP, but it's my first look
at Mediawiki.
One of the biggest things I have noticed is:
a) echo, doesn't
b) if I try and create my own "test_wiki.php" file calling wiki
functions/methods, I get I think errors but all that is displayed on the
screen is a complete blank
I suppose these things are basically the same thing. Is "echo" disabled?
Is there some other global setting I haven't seen which is stopping output
to the screen? Is there some magic constant that I have to set to get debug
output (I have found $wgDebugLogFile, $wgDebugRedirects, $wgDebugRawPage,
$wgDebugComments, $wgReadOnly, $wgLogQueries, $wgDebugDumpSql but they don't
seem to help much).
Thanks for any help.

If you hack around it _might_ work, but that's not really supported.

Not supported at all.

No such thing.

No, and it's still not.
