Okay, in plain old html I'd make an image a link to another page by going:
<a href="www.yahoo.com"><img src="myYahooLogo.gif"></a>
Reading the mediawiki help and trying to figure out how to do this
within the wiki...my god...I'm sorry but it seems horribly complex for
a relatively easy concept. Is it really true that I have to make a
redirect at the image page?
So what I want to do is upload an image and then make that image link
to an external website, like perhaps:
[http://gmail.google.com/gmail [[Image:GmailIcon.jpg]]]
I'm hoping that there is a reasonably easy way to do this reasonably
common thing.
Thanks,

Hi
I have the following issue : I have (intentionally) created some categories
in which I have done some links to pages which does not exist yet. The
problem is that those "wanted pages" are not listed in the
Special:Wantedpages page, unless another "real" page mentions them (withn in
this case, the correct nmber of links, including the one in the category)
How can I fix this ? I'd like to provide a page to my users so that they can
easily see what are the wanted pages and be incited to write them.
Regards

Hello,
I have installed a mediawiki on an apache server (2.0.55) under windows
xp, encrypted by ssl with OpenSSL, I use PHP 5.0.5. And the mediawiki
don't work properly, I can't edit any article, when I click "Save page",
it's a preview. Other example, I can upload a file on the server, but I
can't remove it, I have a message that tells me : "There seems to be a
problem with your login session; this action has been canceled as a
precaution against session hijacking. Please hit "back" and reload the
page you came from, then try again." but, that don't work. I use the
last version of mediawiki.
Thank you for helping, and happy new year :)

ok, habe über die Tage etwas daran gearbeitet.
Mein erstes Anliegen:
Im Moment habe ich 4 versch. wikis.
Alle sind so konfiguriert( habe eine Commonsettings.php):
$wgSharedUploadPath = 'http://www.xx.ch/common/wiki/images';
# Path on the file system where shared uploads can be found
$wgSharedUploadDirectory = '/home/xx/public_html/common/wiki/images';
# Set this to false especially if you have a set of files that need
to be
# accessible by all wikis, and you do not want to use the hash (path/
a/aa/)
# directory layout.
$wgHashedSharedUploadDirectory = true;
$wgSharedUploadDBname = 'xxx_wikiartikel';
$wgUploadPath = "http://www.xx.ch/common/wiki/images";
$wgUploadDirectory = "/home/xxx/public_html/common/wiki/images";
so weit so gut.

It isn't a particularly useful loophole at face value, but it doesn't
seem too far a stretch to have page edits automatically get dumped
into the deletion history for an item instead of be pushed out to the
live world.
Has anyone exploited the fact that deleted pages aren't visible to
non-admins in order to have hidden pages?
I'm a great fan of mediawiki, and like to use it with a new site I am putting
together on sourceforge.
I would ask you guys, what CMS integrates best with mediawiki? I have seen it
done with Joomla, but it didn't look very good to me. I understand there is
a Drupal module for it, but it seemed difficult to set up.
Is there a CMS that you guys have had luck with? I'm looking mostly for a
consistant theming and single sign on.
Thanks,
Brian

This I had not seen. Otherwise I had not written another question on this topic. (Even you are using Linux the reason may be the same.)

Yes: http://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/

Hi mediawiki gurus,
I've running mediawiki 1.5.4 on a Win2k system with PHP 5.0.5.
On my settings page I can enable eMail notification for changes on wiki pages. But even I've set on this options I do not receive any mail. The Mails for eMail address validation are sending out successfully. So the configuration seams to be ok.
1. Do I have to change more settings?
2. Do I need to install any extension? (But why the settings are already in my standard settings page?)
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello,
Before upgrading from mediawiki 1.3.9 to the lastest version, I need to
backup the SQL database.
I did it with phpmyadmin : I got an SQL text file of 30M.
I tried to read it back ... too big says some php script, without saying
how to cure this problem.
I suppose some of you have already have this problem.
(I tried to read MySql and PhpMyadmin docs ... I had quickly been lost)
Thanks

Without seeing the exact error message, we're all just guessing, but

My guess is that it's a timeout happening. You can set those in /etc/
my.cnf. You can find the proper variable in the MySQL manual, online
somewhere under http://www.MySQL.com .
After setting the timeout huge to allow the huge load, it's probably
a good idea to set it back to the default.
