hello,
i'm having a strange problem with mediawiki-1.4: for some reason i have
one single newline before the header of every page. while this is no
problem for most pages, it breaks the recentchanges rss&atom-feeds:

"XML Parsing Error: xml processing instruction not at start of external
entity"
has anybody had that problem before? any hints would be appreciated!
thanks,

Hi, I have modified the editpage.php to present different things when
you edit (screen 1-->screen 2-->screen 3).
I've not "chained" between themselves: the problem is that it seems
that when I submit, doesn't know it: using wgout to see state of vars
I see always the formtype is initial (before I did this
"multiple-edit", it went well; maybe it's impossible this
"multiple-edit").
I am looking for a debugger for php and so see what's going on, but I
don't know any (I will try gubed). Hoewever, if you know multiple edit
(that is, the editpage.php shows things depending of
$current_screen...and by the way, the value is not modified also, so
it's the form and the vars, just seems that the recall to edit doesn't
remember the globals)
In short:
does editpage.php remember global values when call again to editform()?
Lot of thanks!
Jordi
Hi,
Thnks for your help
The appache2 log file error.log is generating the following error on clicking on the image:
[Tue May 10 10:15:15 2005] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] File does not exist: C:/Apache2/htdocs/mediawiki/images/d, referer: http://localhost/mediawiki/index.php/Image:Applicant.jpg
I've uploaded the image through uploads n not by copying it on to the folders.
Can you tell me where actually the files will be uploaded. I've browsed it from the ../mediawiki/images/applicant.jpg.
Can I upload the file from which ever folder or is there any specific folder from which we need to upload?Initially I copied a file from other dir to /mediawiki/images n then I've uploaded that image file from the /images dir.
The syntax I've used is:
and it is creating one box in which a cross mark is there with Image:applicant.jpg is the text inside the box. When I click onto it, it shows another page with title Image:Applicant.jpg and an empty box is shown.
Does this details get me a clue or solution?
Please help

Its great to see that you have the wiki setup. If thats done, it should not
be difficult to get the images working.
"Still I'm not getting the image." is not enough of an error message to
troubleshoot.
Some keys to troubleshoot:
Are you able to do a 'Preview' of the page after the edit ?
What do your log files say ? Any Error messages in apache error_log ?
Verify again if you have enabled image upload and check if rw access is
enabled for the userid used by apache on the images directory.

Hi,
Can anybody tell me how to add images to the mediawiki?
I have enabled the upload files and used syntax like this:
, where logo.jpg is stored in /mediawiki/images
Still I'm not getting the image.
Can anybody tell me how to configure images?
Please its urgent!
Regards
Vijay

I recently upgraded wikimedia. I don't know what version was on the
server before.
I then decided I wanted to add a prefix to my table.
I created empty wiki database table with the prefix i wanted.
after I made all my Rename Table commands and ran them through i noticed
that two table that were in the fresh table set were not in the
previous. validate and blobs
Should I create these tables somehow? were do i find the create
statements?
My wiki seems to work alright without them... will I run into problems
later?
thanks,
rob
I'm still learning how to use MediaWiki, and I can't figure out if what I want is possible or not. If not, I'll submit a MediaZilla feature request.
I want to define page layout templates - not the current Templates that are more like macros, but rather
a common page layout that I can associate with pages, for example with a new namespace "Layout:",
Layout:MyLayoutName
or perhaps indirectly by associating a layout with a category, or as a choice in the page editor.
For example, I may want to automatically include a header, navigation, and footer template on a subset of pages, for example, for pages about Eclipse. I may define a layout as follows
Eclipse-heading

Eclipse-navigation
Eclipse-footer
However, I don't want to have to include these templates in each and every page in the Eclipse category.
Rather, I would like to create a Layout:Eclipse page layout and by referencing Layout:Eclipse on these pages, it will use that page layout; i.e. automatically include the heading, navigation, and footer. Such layouts may contain <div> or <table> or other layout markup, whether (restricted) html or wiki.
When a page is previewed or saved, its body is substituted where (or some other meaningful marker/variable) appears, and the other templates/markup inserted as if they were on the original page. User's editing such pages would not have to explicitly include this boilerplate, and I could change this page layout template once and all pages which use it would render with the new layout.
Only one page layout is needed per page, although I can see how it may be possible/desirable to nest them via a Decorator pattern; the output of applying one page template then becomes the for the next. This would be tricky; you would not want to reformat/reinterpret the text as markup. In addition, some layouts may themselves reference other layouts. (beware of cycles, though!)
Finally, I would expect to have a default page layout for the site; i.e. Layout:default or Layout:site. For example, there is an implicit page layout template already which includes MediaWiki:Sitenotice and MediaWiki:Tagline. I would like to make it more explicit and customizable and allow different pages or categories to have their own custom page layouts (either replacing or augmenting other layouts).
Is there some feature of MediaWiki which provides something like this (or an existing

Hi All,
I'm getting ready to do some work to maintain & present trending statistics
for my wiki. The basic stats seem like a great start for that info and the
rest of what I need seems to be in the database. What are others doing with
their wikis? I couldn't find something like the wikipedia statistics as a
ready-to-use package. Any thoughts or known packages before I start?
Thanks,
Jeff
Hello,
I'm running an English Wiki, which contains a few articles in which
the predominant language has right-to-left (RTL) directionality
(Hebrew).
I was unable to find an elegant solution to the problem of formatting
thesearticles, which should probably boil down to something along the
lines of having the "dir=rtl lang=he" attributes added automatically
to every paragraph element and every heading. I wouldn't like to hack
something that would add "lang=he dir=rtl" to the <html> element, as
that would ruin the layout of the rest of the page (like I said, most
of the Wiki is in English).
As I have wgRawHtml set in my Wiki (it's private) I tried adding
<html><span dir=rtl lang=he></html> at the beginning of the article,
to no avail (it was overriden by the following elements, as the
document's default language was still English). The only solution so
far is to wrap *each* paragraph with <p dir=rtl>, which is unweildy
and doesn't solve headings.
How should I go about doing this? Do you think coding a new Wiki
markup tag (#RTL, a la #REDIRECT) is the proper way?
Many thanks,
- Aknin
