Make sure there is not line break (newline/enter/...) before the
'float'. Everything between the {| and | should be on one 'line'.

hi@all. first of all thanks for answering me my questions 'til now :)
but here is a new (i'm maybe stupid but I don't find any information how
to do this)
I've installed 4 wikis in - 4 languages (german, englisch, french,
spanish). I could create e.g. upload.wikiplant.org - but how do I get
the pictures in there, that users in all languages can see the pictures
(or use them in articles), also if they've been uploaded in another wiki??
thx.. and greetings from germany :)

Hi, i'm a newer to mediawiki software. since i installed different verion of
them(1.4.9, 1.4.11, 1.5.0), i've suffered incomplete page issue, please help
me.
i've been looking for faq, help and google for some time, but no answer.
almost every page that server send to client is incompete, the end lines
like this:
====================================
</div>
</div>
<!-- Served by web in 0.29 secs. --> </body>
</s="nimel,iv>el,@ mh=">
===============================
or

<!-- Served by web in 0.21 secs. --> </body>
</html9</l鈏v>
<di0tml7h-
================================
sometimes i even got a blank page, when i viewed the sourcepage, the content
just conained: <html><body></body></html>
i only used IE 6.0 sp2 and Firefox 1.0.7 testing my web site, because my web
is a Chinese site, so, I don't know wether it's UTF-8 or mysql or php's
issue.
there is my server configuration
PHP Version 4.4.1-dev
Mysql 4.1.13
Apache/2.0.54 (Unix)
but there is a curious situation, when i used a proxy software, the IE
broswer performed better due to the low net-speed, them i could see the
</body></html> at the end of a page.
my web url is http://wiki.tooyu.com, thanks for your help.
if you please to give me some links or suggestion.
Matthew
On any pages that have a table of contents, it seems the default is to
have the TOC have its own row. Any text will be below it. I would like
the text to wrap around the TOC in the same way it does with thumbnails.
Doesn't work for me. I see:
float: right; padding: .5em
0 .8em 1.4em; background: none;"
Table of contents [hide]
1 News
2 Mission
2.1 Strategy Statement
2.2 Protocols
2.3 Guidelines
2.4 Training
2.5 CAD Group
2.6 Useful Links
at the head of my page, and the table steadfastly stuck to the left-hand edge.
Any (relevant) suggestions ?
Regards,
Andrew

This piece of wiki-markup and css basically floats the TOC to the right :
{| cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" style="clear:right; margin-bottom: .5em;
float: right; padding: .5em 0 .8em 1.4em; background: none;"
|
__TOC__
|}
Put this in a template, and call the template from the pages where you need
the floating TOC. It can quite easily be modified to float the TOC to the
left, (or alternatively, to accept variables to it to do the trick)
Best wishes,
Morten :-)

Hello
I have just had a spammer using their user page after signing up to post spam,
a quick google revealed a couple of other sites that had been hit by it. Most
of them just replaced the spam with "SpamBot account", I have blocked the
user and cleared the spam, but is there a better way to do this?
Thanks,
H
Good morning,
Is there a list for non-technical discussion on use and concept stuff for
Wiki?
We're implementing a Wiki to facilitate collaboration in research projects.
There are alot of obvious ways to use a Wiki for this purpose, but I know
there must be countless other things I'm not thinking of. I'm not a
researcher and therefore can't add much in the way of meaningful content,
but I want to contribute what I can and help encourage the growth and use of
our Wiki.
All suggestions appreciated.
Thanks
Andrew

Try [[Image:blabla.jpg|thumb|none|Bla Bla]].

Hello out there,
I keep getting notices in my error.log (apache) such as:
[client xxx.xxx.66.44] PHP Notice: Undefined index: HTTP_USER_AGENT in /path/to/my/wiki/includes/EditPage.php on line 966
The line in EditPage.php is:
$currentbrowser = $_SERVER["HTTP_USER_AGENT"];
How do I get rid of this notice? Is there a way to increase the log
level to something higher? Or (no php experience) can I do something
else? I'd like to get rid of this notice, because it is completely
irrelevant for me and draws too much attention to the error.log.

Hi Batti,
Regarding your LocalSettings.php, there seems to be more there than you need
and I did not see $wgUseLDAP set. Also, you do not need to create the
LdapAuthenticationPlugin as the $wgUseLDAP flag will take care of that. Try
the following for the LDAP settings (I'm assuming you don't need the
ADdomain):
#----- start ------
$wgUseLDAP = true;
$wgLDAPDomainNames = array(
"testLDAPdomain"
);
$wgLDAPServerNames = array(
"testLDAPdomain"=>"osxdev2.cecom.com"
);
$wgLDAPSearchStrings = array(
"testLDAPdomain"=>"uid=USER-NAME,cn=users,dc=cecom,dc=com"
);
$wgLDAPUseSSL = false; //Recommended!!
$wgLDAPUseLocal = false; //Allow the use of the local database as well as the
LDAP database
$wgMinimalPasswordLength = 1; #If using mediawiki 1.5. Note: 1 is the minimum,
feel free to go higher
$wgLDAPUpdateLDAP = false; //if true WikiDN and WikiPassword must be set
//In Version 1.0 for writing to the directory
$wgLDAPWriterDN = "admin"; //Please use a user with limited access, NOT your
directory manager
$wgLDAPWriterPassword = "admin_pw_here"; //You are able to use clear text
passwords, but please try not to
//In Version 1.0 for search filter
$wgLDAPSearchAttributes = array(
"testLDAPdomain"=>"uid"
);
$wgLDAPBaseDNs = array(
"testLDAPdomain"=>"cn=users,dc=cecom,dc=com"
);
//In Version 1.0 for mailing temporary passwords to users
//(notice, this will store the temporary password in the local directory
// if you cannot write LDAP passwords because writing is turned off,
// this probably won't help you much since users will not be able to change
// their password)
$wgLDAPMailPassword = true;
//In Version 1.0 for allowing the retreival of user preferences from LDAP
//Only pulls a small amount of info currently
$wgLDAPRetrievePrefs = true;
#----end----
Hope this helps.
