Hello,
I am trying to set up an inputbox in my wiki 1.5
I understand I have to include some code in my Localsettings.php.
This is what is needed:
Add the line require_once("extensions/inputbox.php");
to LocalSettings.php.
But where do I insert that and exactly what code do I insert then in the LocalSettings.php?

Hello Rob,
Yes I already understood that. But in which file do I edit the nogomatch?
I found the word:'nogomatch" in the specialsearch.php
Do I change something there? And how?
This is what it says in the specialsearch.php:
# FIXME: HTML in wiki message
$wgOut->addHTML( '<p>' . wfMsg('nogomatch', $editurl, htmlspecialchars( $term ) ) . "</p>\n" );
return $this->showResults( $term );
How do I change it then?
The url you gave doesnot work.
Johanna

MediaWiki 1.5.0 is the new stable release branch of MediaWiki, and is
recommended for all new installations.
See the release notes (link below) for details of new features and
requirements.
Any wikis running a 1.5 beta or release candidate are strongly
recommended to upgrade to the final release, which includes a number of
bug fixes and a security fix for CSS bugs in Microsoft Internet Explorer.
IMPORTANT: Running a 1.3 or 1.4 wiki and don't want to jump to 1.5 yet?
Be sure to upgrade to 1.3.17 or 1.4.11, also released today. Versions
prior to 1.3.16 and 1.4.10 have a serious data corruption bug which is
triggered by a spambot known to operate in the wild.

Before I upgraded, I had a simple search hack that allowed me to record what my users were searching for. Unfortunately, I've competely forgotten how I did it. I have searched the mailing list archive and the previous help on this doesn't make sense to me.
I need to know what page I need to insert my code into and what variable contains the search term. Thanks.

I read the Instillation Guide and checked the FAQs. Here's my problem when I go to install it, no install page loads, it has this error instead.
There is a problem with the page you are trying to reach and it cannot be displayed.
HTTP 500 - Internal server error
Internet Explorer
I don't know what else to do. I chmoded the Config folder to 777. I have all the things that are required. The url to my site is http://zootycoon.half-halt.net<http://zootycoon.half-halt.net/> than I clicked the link to install and it gives me the error.
Any Help Is Greatly Appreciated!!
Thank You!

I am going to talk to Walter Bender's "electronic publishing"
[http://ep.media.mit.edu/] group at the Media Lab this Friday. Their
take on the future of publishing is that it will incorporate (among
other things) distributed versioning; combining the automatic
branch-and-merge version control that software developers now cherish,
with human feedback and merge/branch assistance at many steps along
the way.
One student is doing his formal research on just this kind of document
versioning, which shares many hard problems with issues of translation
linkage that I have been working on.
This is the second time in three months that someone has been eager to
discuss the application of such versioning to Mediawiki; Tom Lord
expressed a similar interest in August before Wikimania (hoewever, a
remote discussion never came to fruition).
Are there any Mediawiki devs who have puzzled over / worked on this
kind of problem? Philosophical arguments about whether distributed
versioning is good for wikis?

Hello,
i am trying to link together PHPbb and MediaWiki 1.4. What I want to do is:
1) Install this hack: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/PHPBB/Users_Integration
2) Edit it so that it will check also the banlist of phpbb and mediawiki. If a ban is discovered in phpbb it will be added to the MW banlist
3) Create a single login, so that users who logged in at the forum dont need to login again in the wiki.
4) Do the same for phpbb
Before i start coding i want you to ask, if someone has done this before and wether he can help me.
And also, can you answer me the following questions:
Q1) Where does MW set its $_SESSION vars?
Q2) Would http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/PHPBB/Users_Integration already check if there is a ban in the MW banlist?
Thanks in advance
S.W.
re: peswiki.com, a mediawiki-based site.
I am currently (past 2 hours) under a highly aggressive, computerized attack. Indefinite number IPs so I can't block one by one. Repeated submits robotically ~4x/minute on unprotected pages, mainly listed from the home page.
the code includes the string "wikitikitavi"
I don't know how to globally shut of the "edit" function for my site.
If one of you knows how to do this, could you contact me immediately by phone, preferably, or by email

I've written an extension that works if you're running CVS HEAD
(although you can backport the necessary hooks) that allows you to add
per-page CSS to any page with the a <css> tag, the extension is in
PageCSS/PageCSS.php in the extension module in CVS.
