Hello listadmins,
I've been getting these mailing list probe messages from mailman regularly.
What I suspect might be a problem, is that the message says "a sample is
attached below", but there is no sample bounce message.
Is mailman firing off random probe messages? Or is it forgetting to attach
a bounce message that my email provider sent it?

Hi,
I have banned an email address domain (with *+(a)sorter.ch) but I am still
seeing emails from this sort of address getting through to moderation. What
else do I need to do? I see there are some emails from this domain listed
as non-members. Should I delete those?
Thanks!

I've had brought to my attention that there is a user who submitted a
subscription request. It does not show up in our subscription request
list. When we try to manually add the user to the subscriber's list, we
receive an error message saying that there is a pending subscription
request. We can't seem to find this anywhere.
We've temporarily added them to the non-member list, but that really isn't
what we want to do. Any suggestions?
This relates to the Wikimedia-L list, and the person who wishes to
subscribe has a @wikimedia.org email address. I don't think this should
really make a difference, but any suggestions would be helpful.

Hello
Where do we change the size of messages sent to the list ? I get some
messages moderated because they are above 100 kb. Is this something we
can increase ? And if so, where can it be done ? I could not find in the
interface...
Thanks
Flo
Hello,
I just realized that I am subscribed/owner of a mailing list (with another
email account) that should be closed and archived (no emails since 2012).
Is there a procedure to do that?
Thanks,
Delphine

Dear listadmins,
Please be aware of potential downtime on lists.wikimedia.org tomorrow
2022-01-13.
When: 09:00 UTC, for about 30 minutes (unlikely to take that long)
What: Incoming email may not be able to reach the lists.wikimedia.org
server and may need to be retried (usually automatic). Outgoing mail will
be delayed until the maintenance finishes.
Why: We need to apply a config change for the KVM settings for the VM
running lists.wikimedia.org which requires a reboot. It will be quite
brief, likely no more than five minutes, however if something goes wrong it
might take longer, hence the notification. More technical details are
available at https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T294120.
Let us know if you have any questions. Please also forward/cross-post this
message as needed.
Thanks,

Greetings all!
Since yesterday NWR-Hist mailing list is getting different spam emails. All of them was held automatically and users were blocked afterwards but the number of this mails doesnt't look good: we've got 6 so far, and one of them was literal scam mail pretending to be some Wikimedia staff mail about spam problem (but with fake lookalike address). Do I have to do something except that I've done already? Or should I notice someone in WMF?
Dear listadmins,
Please be aware of potential downtime on lists.wikimedia.org next Tuesday,

What: Incoming email may not be able to reach the lists.wikimedia.org
server and may need to be retried (usually automatic). Outgoing mail will
be delayed until the maintenance finishes.
Why: We need to run some schema changes on the database of mailman to fix
bugs mentioned in the ticket. This can't be done unless we shut down
mailman software. It will be quite brief, likely no more than one minute,
however if something goes wrong it might take longer, hence the
notification. More technical details are available at

Hi,
I have a private list that I'm admin for, but seemingly unable to have
mailman enforce the rules for someone that I've added to the non-member
list (not a member, but able to post to the list without intervention from
admins). This person is within the WMF organization and is using their WMF
email address to post to the list.
I've been able to add people to the non-member list prior to this and have
had no issues before, but this is new and frustrating.
Any suggestions on how to fix?
Thanks!

Hi,
I keep getting "Uncaught bounce notification" for wikinews-l which says
"This mailing list has been configured to send all unrecognized bounce
messages to the list administrator(s).", but I cannot find the option to
disable the "all unrecognized bounce messages". I've set up a filter to
automatically send them to Trash, but it'd be better to simply not send one.
Wikinews-l is low-volume and also quite a spam target, that I sometimes
get such bounce notification few times a day. I don't think I need to
get such bounce notifications, and if people need a listadmin, they can
find how to contact one on-wiki via listinfo page.
Thanks!
