A new (US) district court ruling on the distinction between a
derivative work and a collection in the context of CC-BY-SA licenses -
http://www.technollama.co.uk/us-court-interprets-copyleft-clause-in-creativ…
Looks like they came to the sensible decision - interpreting
'derivative' relatively narrowly. In this case, a CC-BY-SA image was
used for the cover of a book and it was held that the license clearly
did not extend to the rest of the book as a derivative work.

Thanks Jane and Steinsplitter,
Categories I created yesterday are now appearing, but we still have the
same problem when categorising uncategorised images.
I've subscribed to the phabricator bug and will take a little break from
commons. Hopefully it will be fixed at some point and I should then get a
message from phabricator saying it is OK to return to Commons.

Hi, has someone changed something on commons to slow the rate at which
things show up when you create categories and so forth?
There was a thread on the cultural partners list about who could and could
not see images in a new category of UNESCO videos uploaded, and now I'm
finding when I recategorise images they no longer disappear from the
category I'm working through.

Hi,
I'm Josephine, an Outreachy applicant who's hoping to work on the Upload to
Commons Android app project -
https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T114358#1701261
With the guidance of Nicolas_Raoul (co-mentor for this project), I have
started contributing to the app on GitHub and have completed the microtask.
However, we are still needing one more mentor for this project.
If anyone is willing to help out as a mentor or point me to someone who
would, I'd hugely appreciate it.
