I've been lurking on this list for a while now, waiting for the time
to actually work on the Mediawiki code. Therefore, I was very
interested in the proposed summer of code project "Wikitext parser

I am going to submit an application when I can, but I have a
clarifying question: Since wikitext does not appear to be even
context-free, will we be allowed to change how wikitext works? (I.e.
if the internal link syntax turns out (as I think it will) to be
non-context-free (and therefore there is not a parser generator for
it), will the student be able to change the syntax?)
