In more recent code I've been mainly using the
first one, since I
realised it was predominant before I came along.
Brace style is certainly a religious issue, Tim.
K&R, however, dictates a hybrid: new-line open braces,
namely, for functions; and contiguous ones for statements:
function( )
{
if ( ) {
}
}
It seems to strike a balance between readability (the swift
apprehension of top-level functions) and oeconomy.
