Very good point, I think this is the exact solution.
As for replacing the '@' in an email address with the word "at", this
does
basically nothing. Spammer's spiders aren't so stupid that they don't know
that everybody has been doing this for many years, and they simply delete
white space and replace at's and dot's with the relevant characters.
