Isn't this very simple? The verification is, that the password is sent
not to any emailadress but to your emailadress, that you have
registered at Wikipedia that goes together with your user account. Why
don't you log out and try to log in as me, Habj - then you see exactly
how this has happened.

It seems reasonable, IMO, that both passwords should be valid for a
while. Otherwise, I could disturb you by over and over again trying to
log in as you and ask for new passwords, and thereby stopping you from
logging in until you have had the possibility to check your e-mail.
