[Mediawiki-l] Limit editing to valid ip-addresses only?

Hello out there,

I start to have problems with spam on my mediawiki 1.3.9 installation.
Perhaps it would be a start to limit editing to people that have a
valid ip-address. Or with an address that can be resolved into a name
(reverse dns lookup). Are there any sensible methods already
implemented? How do you guys prevent the spamming?
