I don't have children (before I get accused of having some vested
interest) but I've never heard anything so ridiculous and sexist.

*Choosing* to attend something is not the same as having *obligations* to
attend things. A 'general person' going to Wikimania is there solely and
only on behalf of themselves. A member of the Board attends internal and
extermal meetings *on behalf of the Foundation* - not because of their
*personal choice* but on behalf of you and every other editor and reader
of our projects.

Looking after children is never a 'perk'. Receiving something towards
those costs that get incurred because you are doing something *for other
people* is *NEVER* a 'perk', it is but a small recompense of the costs the
person incurs because of their  duties with the Foundation.

And if you think being away from your family is *ever* a 'perk' then ...
well I'd better not say what I think as I'd get banned!
