Hoi,
This question was asked before. As I recall it, the WMF wants to have Single
User Logon implemented first before schemes like OpenID are considered for
implementation.

AFAIK OpenID breaks being able to login via the API?
Though I can understand the point of not having bots with an Open ID
account.
Though that's not that great if I disable user registration for my wiki
like I plan to.
