All,
I've merged the new-installer branch to trunk in r66008[0]. It's not
complete yet but it's far enough along that I want it to start having
more people work on it, which means moving it out of the branch
and into trunk. Couple of things to note:
* It is not complete yet. Upgrades in particular are very much in
a state of flux. Fresh installs should be fine.
* i18n for the installation/upgrade process is not a part of the
normal Messages* files. It is in ./includes/installer/Installer.i18n.php
and loaded like an extension.
* There are still a list of known issues, see [1]. Please update
the list as you see problems or fix any.
Thanks,
-Chad

There are a bunch of these web server authentication plugins that all mostly
suck. Web server authentication would be fairly easy to add to core, with a
minimal amount of change. The auto-auth code does nearly everything required
of web server authentication, except the things that extensions *really*
shouldn't be doing, like adding users to the database, and checking
sessions.
Would anyone object if I add this support to core?

Hi folks,
As of today, I'm working as a contractor at Wikimedia Foundation, helping
out with several things, one of which being the Flagged Revs rollout.
One thing I'm going to be helping William and the crew out with is working
out some of the unanswered questions in the description of the rollout
phase:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Flagged_protection_and_patrolled_rev…
(and accompanying pages)
I've been following the threads and playing around with the features, but
I'm probably not as up to speed on this stuff as many of you are, so I'm
sure I'll be begging your indulgence from time-to-time.
If there is anything on the pages above that you know needs correction or
clarification based on the existing consensus, please be bold make that fix.
Citations back to email discussions on anything controversial would be
especially helpful for me, but not required. I'll be updating those pages
based on my understanding, so it'll be helpful to start from a base of
current understanding rather than what the understanding was a year ago.
Thanks for your help!
Rob
All,
Right now our post-commit e-mails and other notifications do
not occur when a file is locked or unlocked[0]. There are two
options. The first is duplicate our existing post-commit hooks
for the pre-lock and pre-unlock hooks. The alternative is to
disable locking entirely. We don't really use them (often) and
there's no active locks, so I'm inclined to want to do the latter.
Feedback is desired though.
Thanks,
Chad

Hi!
I would like to ask for a review of the new CollabWatchlist extension
[1]. The attached patch is against
http://svn.wikimedia.org/svnroot/mediawiki/branches/wmf-deployment
revision 65812.
Essentially, the extension provides a new special page which can be used
by several editors to collaborate on reviews of recent changes.
Could someone please review the code and the functionality of the
extension? One area of discussion will probably be the code to build
the category tree, which needs a caching layer. I would like to get a
few suggestions concerning a future implementation of the category
cache, which might be a useful addition to the mediawiki core.
Thanks in advance,
Florian

Hello,
A short question about wikistats. Having had a look at http://stats.grok.se/ I
found that visitor numbers between 200712 and now can be searched. So I
assume that the raw hourly visitor number log files (except for a few
missing) are present on grok.se (though not directly downloadable) starting
200712. At http://mituzas.lt/wikistats I could find the hourly visitor log
files only between 200910 and now. Do you happen to know, if someone has
these older wikistats log files (between 200712 and now)?
Thanks
illes
