People may be
interested to note that the Oxford Dictionary of
National Biography is doing an open-access weekend; the entire online
version is free to use (with a quick registration) for the next couple

This may be pretty useful for those who've written articles on obscure
people and want to factcheck...
I am, it should be noted at this point, a prat - I forgot the link!

Well (apart from being a prat) let me say thanks for the heads up! For those
who aren't aware, the ODNB contains 50,000+ bios of various people connected
with the British Isles. I had access for a bit a while ago, and I found a
number of entries on relatively obscure British cryptographers and GCHQ people,
and that the biographies contained a lot of information that hadn't been
published elsewhere.
