Hi! Just read in the news: tineye.com is search for similar images. I think it may be useful to find copyvio sources. photosynth.net - Microsoft finally released Photosynth for public: 3d model reconstruction from multiple images. Eugene.

Great! It works! Thank you! Could you please take a look on http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Village_pump#Wikipedia.2FCommons_… There are ideas for other useful gadget :-)

As an example, it found the low res copy http://www.solarnavigator.net/geography/darwin_australia.htm of http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:DarwinStreet.jpeg Sadly, they don't allow automated submits ;)

If statistics will be handled in different way it makes sence. However if similarities between new and old ones are predictable (for example, only URL will be different) we could prepare framework (in form of Gadget or Extension). But I'm not the right person to judge on this subject... Eugene.
