In the Hebrew Wikipedia the "Category"
namespace isn't translated (it

When it will be translated, what will happen to the category pages- will
those pages be moved automatically to the new namespace? Will the links
to category pages be modified automatically?
The pages will not be "moved", since the namespace isn't striclty
speaking part of the title - the database refers to the namespaces by
a seperate, numeric, field. But from a user point of view, the title
of each page will become translated with no manual intervention
required.
Existing links, however, since they are just stored in the text of the
individual articles, will *not* be altered - but it won't matter,
because every copy of MediaWiki has a hard-coded set of "canonical"
namespace names, which are the same as those of the English Wikipedia,
with the exception of "Project:" (and "Project_talk:") where
Wikipedia
would have "Wikipedia:". These names are valid alternative titles for
whatever pages exist - so, for example, one can refer to
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:IMSoP and find oneself at
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benutzer:IMSoP. In the case of Category
links, therefore, you can use the prefix "Category:" to refer to a
category page whatever language you're using.
To drift off topic, and I know it's been said before, but it would
make a lot of sense if we didn't save the actual text of things like
category links, and instead reconstructed them on demand from the
links table(s). That way, categories could be managed from both
directions, as it were - e.g. you could rename a category and have the
members of the category transferred, not just the description.
Something to think about, I feel, for future schema designing etc.
