Here's my answer that I gave at the Village Pump:
"In most browsers you can just hit refresh, your browser will point out
that you're posting data and ask you if you are sure you want to repeat
the operation, say yes. Deadlocks can be dealt with in software, but
it's hard to know in advance what parts of the software will cause them."
The way we deal with them in software is just to repeat the transaction,
so by hitting refresh you're doing the same thing manually.
