With the emphasis on "some" - for whatever reason, Microsoft never got
round to implementing the rather useful feature of the PNG standard
that lets you add an "alpha" layer for transparency, rather than
specifying one colour as transparent in the palette. This is
particularly useful for anti-aliasing something when you don't know
what background it will be on (and given that colour-matching is very
unreliable, that's most of the time).
