The website says eaccelerator is better. But I'm actually afraid if I

We use Turck MMCache on Wikimedia, and it's served very well. MMCache is
no longer being maintained since the author was hired by Zend a while
ago, and iirc it doesn't support PHP 5.
eAccelerator is a derivitive of MMCache, continuing to maintain and
extend it since the original project was dropped. I'm using it
experimentally on my own site, on PHP 5; I haven't noticed any problems
but haven't extensively tested it.
These are both free/open source modules, like the PHP core itself.
I think Zend Optimizer is more trustable. Please
suggest me a good solution
Zend _Accelerator_ probably does a fine job, but it's not open source
(further I get the impression it's only available now as part of an
expensive 'Zend Platform' product). This may not make a difference to
you, but it is a factor in decisions for Wikimedia, and we haven't used it.
Zend Optimizer is a separate product, and seems to be not quite the same
thing.
