with access to the server) attention, unless it is set as a cron job
(i.e. run automatically at regular intervals). Jakob was asking for a
way of letting *sysops* do that - i.e. a web-based interface for users
with the appropriate rights.
So he can run the script on a cron job, as you suggest (which is
clearly what wikimedia does) and protect the interwiki page (so only
his sysops can make changes).
That would only be a problem if some hosting service allowed you php,
mysql and to install mediawiki, but wouldn't let you make ordinary
user cronjobs.
