There wasn't a consensus in favour of it. If you only want this to apply to

Yup, I caught
that, and though admittedly it doesn't bode well for my
hopes of achieving support, this does get us a lot more (imho) than
being able to view deleted pages, in fact I'd see it as a worthwhile
plan even if you see having deleted pages viewable as a drawback.
The big thing is not being able to view pages after deletion, but
having deletion be "just another edit", and the same for undeletion.
That way they can be handled by the same mechanisms as any other edit,
mechanisms which though they may not be perfect are a lot less
problematic than those surrounding deletion in its current form.
