Hi,
What do think about an option to render to PNG the unicode characters
(&XXXX;) ?
No way to render TeX according to browser text size setting ?
* Technically, there is no such thing as "browser text size setting"
* Idea is generally nice, for things like CJK, IPA, Arabic, Hebrew etc.
* Of course settings would have to be more detailed than just
"render everything non-Latin".
* All Latin script characters (8859-1 or not) must be displayed
without PNGs. Rendering them as PNGs would screw display completely.
* To look reasonable (proper kerning, context-dependent choice of glyphs in Arabic,
preservation of square sizes in CJK etc.) and not linebreak at random points
it would have to render whole words not characters. Word - any string of
characters from the same group of Unicode characters.
* We would have all Han Unification problems here.
Favourite fonts of Chinese and of Japanese differ,
some fonts contain only Chinese or only Japanese fonts,
mixing them is going to look awful etc.
Generally, lot of mess.
* It would screw naive HTML cache, but we can do that in post-processing phase
over already generated HTML.
* Maybe we could also add some furigana support.
