There may be such a limit on individual data objects, but tables can
certainly be bigger; the English old table is _much_ bigger than 4gb, and
our whole InnoDB data store file is about 16gb.
(A note though: some filesystems cannot handle files larger than 4gb. In
particular, I recommend against trying to decompress the english old
article dump on a FAT32 filesystem...)
Maybe we could think about 64 bit processors for our
new server ?
