I recently changed the e-mail address I used for the
mailing lists to
User:Mbecker@jumpingjackweb.com.
This has seemed to hit some sort of error in the Mailman program.
I am receiving e-mail to Mbecker(a)jumpingjackweb.com rather than
User:Mbecker@jumpingjackweb.com.
According to my reading of RFC 822, colons are not allowed
in email addresses unless they are quoted.
So <User:Mbecker@jumpingjackweb.com> is not a legal RFC 822 _mailbox_.
If I read the RFC correctly, <"User:Mbecker"@jumpingjackweb.com>
is legal. I wouldn't be surprised if it gives some software
gas, however.
(This is not to say there isn't a bug in Mailman. But I think
the fact that the colon doesn't cause trouble with more MTA's
etc. is just luck...)
